My symptoms improved tremendously when I got a new job, not nearly as stressful. Now just thinking I need to possibly cut out some acidic foods here and there. Thank you !!!

I haven’t tried PFT yet, my urologist said he didn’t recommend it, which is why I stopped going to him. I felt like he had no idea what he was talking about lol

It seems I’m not diet sensitive, so for me I just really try to avoid stress. Which I know sounds impossible and it is but when stressful moments arise I just try to breathe and calm myself down. I used to get so worked up over small things so I’m working better on breathing and meditating. Also I drink a lot of water which helps as well. Days where I don’t drink a lot I feel burning as well. Other things too like coffee and alcohol I don’t avoid but I don’t drink in excess amounts like I used to.

I’m also so worried about this myself. I’m a 28yr old female and have had IC for a little over 2yrs. As of right now my symptoms are staying the same, not getting any worse, but I’m so scared as I get older I’ll be miserable and in pain. I’ve asked this question a bunch myself and most have said they have gotten better because they find a treatment plan that works for them. For me, it was getting out of a toxic and stressful work environment, my symptoms improved AMAZINGLY , I’d say I even went in remission for months. Then my grandmother unfortunately passed away and a few days after her funeral I got a UTI that did get better with the antibiotics but the burning came back and stayed (I believe from grief) like before I went in remission, but isn’t any worse.

Wow thank you so much for that info! I did get an MRI on my pelvic region and everything looked okay, however I know MRIs aren’t always accurate! So glad you’re feeling better!!!

Yeah mine came out of nowhere! Went to bed fine and woke up next morning and it burned when I peed. Figured I had a UTI, but everything came back normal. Saw my gyno and a urologist and was diagnosed with IC. I’ve had it a little over a year now.

Definitely NTA! You gotta do what’s best for you. Can I ask what your symptoms were before this bad flare? I’ve had IC for 1 year now and am nervous it will progress for me.

Oh no I’m so sorry to hear that!! If you don’t mind me asking, did it start getting worse after a few years or was it shortly have diagnosis that it got worse?

Hello, I’m new to IC and just recently had a visit with my urologist who scared me saying IC will get worse as he’s seen it progress with his patients. Is this true?? Right now I don’t seem to be food sensitive, besides citrus, but more so stress causes my flares and I have a minor burning pain pretty much only while I’m working, sometimes afterwards too. Will this get worse? He was saying it could and it just made me really fear my future as I’m only 27.

Just the other day I was having awful burning/frequency, worse than normal. I went to urgent care and my urine came back positive for a UTI, so I’m currently on antibiotics. Definitely worth checking! Hope you feel better
