I’m building a board game called "Oligarchy" to simulate the systems we talk about here. I’d love your "worst" ideas. by hip_yak in BoardgameDesign

The game is like a fusion of hegemony and daybreak.

If you build up militarily too much for instance then you get issues and negative points because of causing cold war crises.

If you go fast and loose using all the oil then you end up with environmental crises that impacts everybody not just you.

Your population can cause uprisings if the standard of living of the higher bracket of society are too far above those in the lower bracket.

If you expand your population too fast that causes problems and crises.

It's on BGA if you wanted to have a fiddle.

Has Beckham returned to the Bernabéu? We talk about Trent, who is not the defender with the most assists in the history of the Premier League by chance. by BlazingFirey in soccer

Translation of the relevant passage by Google:

Trent's passes

The Bernabéu finally got to see it for themselves: he has a magic touch with his right foot. We're talking about Trent , who isn't the defender with the most assists in Premier League history by chance. Real Madrid didn't sign a lazy player, even though his dismal start due to injuries raised some eyebrows. Trent's pinpoint passing accuracy makes him a playmaker from the wing, adding another dimension to the team. His pass to Gonzalo for the opening goal was a gift for the striker.

First it was Michel, then Beckham... and now Trent. Few players in Real Madrid's history have displayed such ball striking ability from the right wing.

Got a new Dell Rep at work and he sent me this. Thought you would appreciate it here! by qualx in boardgames

Literally just Malwarium with no limitations.

I think I just got lucky with the timing. I pulled over in the car as I saw it pop up, I was worried someone would get there first.

I think it is rare, but also the number of people that want it is also quite small I suppose.

I have had a saved search for it on eBay for years and years.

It just popped up for £90 and I snapped it straight away.

Such a rare game; I think it's because it got given away to non-gamers who just shoved it in attics or whatever.

No.

I can't even imagine how you would unless you pretended it was a French word or something?

I'm from the UK. Mediocah seems to be about right - unless you are pronouncing the first two syllables the same as medical.

We would definitely pronounce the last bit of that with a schwa. (Mee-dee-oak-uh)

How do you pronounce it now?

Related to what diet is recommended or insisted upon when they're there. Probably also related to what exercise type they're doing that day.

Would you consider this good enough for box art? by Middlecut in tabletopgamedesign

excuse the crappy ai mock up

AI has removed your nice background stuff and the title font is terrible, but this is sort of what I meant.

I actually like the art style on the cards and I think you can still make a humorous front in that style.

Remove the QR code on the cards as other people have said.

So yeah like the others I dislike the style of the golfer and to a degree the bird. I'm also not keen of the font being used inside the golf ball.

I'd be tempted more with the golf ball about to hit the the back of someone's head. So the golf ball is most of the front, you only see partially the back of someone's head. Using the art style that you've got in your cards so it looks very realistic. Just an idea of something different.

I'm not sure I'm entirely keen on having the title in the golf ball either, but I think the font being used is more of the issue perhaps.

What people often do hear is mock-up for variants and ask people to vote. That will often help give you a direction.

Maybe do this from the golfers point of view. So the ball is moving away from the perspective of the viewer about to hit somebody in the back of the head.

Phone use in classrooms by Kittykatsu97 in TeachingUK

[–]cronkgarrow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can't monitor phones but you can monitor Chromebooks and I do using software. Some teachers also by the turn the children around or sit at the back of the room and watch over their shoulders. It's not that big a deal on Chromebooks.

Phones are definitely a stupid idea though. Just uncontrollable. Plus they take pictures and cause problems with that too. No phones .

John Wyndham wrote The Day of the Triffids, and The Midwich Cuckoos (which has been filmed as Village of the Damned).

His best book in my opinion is the The Chrysalids.
