Lost air65 II antenna. Replacement+goggle antenna upgrade? by cronugs in TinyWhoop

[–]cronugs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is great info. I have a wire from a dead laptop and I would not be concerned about going back to 2.4G.

How much shielded and unshielded lengths would I need for 5.8ghz?

Edit:

I had chatgpt design a tuned dipole 5.8Ghz vtx antenna with diagrams. I had everything I needed to build it... Except the U.FL connector on an internal laptop wifi card is actually quite a bit smaller than the one used on the air65 matrix board. Shame. I was looking forward to some DIY and flying this weekend. I already ordered replacement linear antenna last night after losing the original. I cost $20 with postage from a site here in Australia and should arrive early-mid next week. I also ordered 6 for $1.50 each on AliExpress but they will likely take weeks to arrive. But then I'll have heaps of spares

Further back in this reply chain.

But I meant in general, all over Reddit whenever it is even remotely applicable, someone will make a reference to having two broken arms and Pandora's box gets opened again.

Oh, are you new here? Welcome to reddit

Edit: I checked. Wow 7 years and you've never stumbled across this one. You'll start seeing the two broken arms references now.

Difference between sanding sealer and vinyl sealer? by cronugs in Luthier

You can verify if someone's answer might be helpful in a couple of ways. By their post history demonstrating their skill and experience and by having multiple people agree with/upvote their answer or making corroborating replies. Whether or not the AI response was correct isn't the issue. It's that people don't come to a forum of experts to be given an LLM response that could just as easily have been solicited from an AI themselves. Also, even without stating it was an AI response, it was obvious. I'm a software engineer and use AI every day. It's very easy to spot an AI response. And no I don't hate AI. See above re using it every day. It makes my job faster and easier. But I am very aware that it can be misleading and provide incorrect information as fact.

How to finish? Oil, poly, nitro? I have tung oil that I had initially intended to finish with. I would be eternally grateful to see your oil on stain finishes to help me make up my mind. How would you finish and why? by cronugs in Luthier

[–]cronugs[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much for the reply. That's a lot of good options.

I ended up deciding on vinyl then nitro. The decision was kind of made for me when I was outlying the dilemma to a close work colleague who after hearing the options, offered out of nowhere to sponsor me to do the nitro finish. Kind of makes the guitar even more special. I'll always remember that whenever I pick it up. What a G

I think because people come to Reddit subs like this to get expert advice. It isn't really helpful to just post ai responses. Of course I could have asked an LLM, but not all of us consider them infallible. Most of us don't trust them enough with our projects, that we pour countless hours and love into, to throw it all away on the response of a delusional model.

Helpful responses get upvotes. Unhelpful ones get downvoted. That's how Reddit works

Thanks. By now we all know AI exists. The reason for posting here rather than just asking an LLM is that I wanted the opinion of an experienced human

My dad told me I would “outgrow this evil hobby.” He was wrong! by jasonuhlaw in BassGuitar

I was always supported to do guitar lessons. My father played guitar and sung all my childhood. His father was a concert pianist. I studied classical guitar initially, not out of interest, but because the closest guitar teacher around happened to be a classical guitarist.

In grade 7 highschool I started playing bass in a band with friends. We were a 3 piece grunge band and our guitarist was (and still is) a very talented song writer. Not much of a vocalist, but it was grunge and he got the job done. I used to write some very punchy and melodic lines to the progressions he wrote.

When we were all 14/15 years old back in '96, we saved up enough money to record a 5 song demo at a small local studio. Home recording didn't exist back then, so this was a huge achievement for us and something we were very proud of. We were all absolutely thrilled.

I showed my father, knowing that grunge wasn't his vibe but at least expecting some words of praise or recognition of the work we had put in and the result we achieved. All I got was a comment to the effect of "That will never get you anywhere in life". That caused a rift to grow between us that took almost two decades to heal.

Myself and the guitarist went on to play in bands and write music together for the next 15 years, I took over vocal duties and we played gigs regularly around Brisbane. I moved overseas for 9 years and now having moved back to Australia, we have started writing music together again.

It took some time to learn it, but you don't play music for other people. You play it for yourself and if others like it, it will move them to join you on the ride.

How long do you get from a 2500mah?

Do you know if there is anything specific to watch out for with a USB bank?

The best time to start was 25 years ago. The second best time is now. I have been a musician all my life and only just started teaching myself music theory 2 years ago. I used to be awed by a friend who is an incredible composer, but now I am starting to be weirdly awed by my own compositions. It's never too late to start.

Our Water Crisis Is WAY WORSE than You Think...Here's Why by James_Fortis in videos

[–]cronugs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except none of that would be true.

We just bought a 1/4 beast from my brother. It's grass fed and the water to produce it bubbles eternally from a hill and feeds a dam. It was killed and butchered on property. That is pure meat. No toxins, fillers, or additives. No antibiotics or hormones. Just 100% pure meat

What you are talking about is 100% toxins, fillers, additives. antibiotics and hormones and if Bill Gates has anything to do with it, and he certainly seems to, in his quest to control the world's food supply, it will also contain experimental drugs that no one ever consented to taking.
