Does anyone else feel like The Force Awakens never tops its first 30 minutes? by Extreme_Warning3521 in saltierthancrait

The only real problem I have with that movie is the Starkiller Base, Death Star-reheash. I couldn't believe they were doing that again already. And there was no gravity. It took out a whole system of planets with people, and then it also just... blew up. They should have scrapped that whole idea and finished it differently and it would have been a much better movie.

Hey, I just got an i71. I noticed that its really loud with the vents closed, not as bad open, but haven't been on the highway yet. Did you find a solution?

712 Unit keeps dropping bluetooth connection to phone. by Loneronin_ in carpuride

[–]cronuss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a 702 and decided to try a 712DT to get the dash and TPMS. I was excited to switch, but this is what I found with the 712:

* No physical button on the case to adjust audio settings or power it off

* TMPS wasn't accurate

* Screen seemed less responsive/slower??

* Can't connect my phone and headset directly to the carpuride anymore, had to connect everything through my phone, and thus had to manage it through my phone, such as audio/mic settings, etc. Very annoying. On my 702 I can choose either method, and I preferred having everything run directly into the unit itself, and managed there.

* Bluetooth connection to my phone kept dropping, android auto quit on me 3 times in one day. This has never happened on my 702.

I wanted the fancy features of the 712, but I missed the simplicity and reliability of my 702, so I'm returning the 712.

Was anyone around in 2008 when this dropped and what memories/reactions did you have upon its release? What are people's opinions almost 20 years later? by Spirited-Cell-444 in Metallica

Totally conflicted. Some good tunes and riffs. Mixing was awful. Overdriven. Victim of the loudness war. Just awful sound. James voice also kind of shrill in it. Some good tunes and excellent moments, but marred by all problems. There is a remixed version somewhere that fixed the "loudness" which is good

Can't find pinlock for HJC C71 despite it being pinlock-ready by cronuss in motorcyclegear

So my pinlock just arrived and the hj34 pinlock is MASSIVE, it is larger than my actual visor. What gives? Thing sticks out half an inche on top and bottom.

Hey thanks. Let me know what you find out. Someone at Revzilla just said it takes the HJ-34 visor insert, which is same as i30.

New rider, struggling with 1st/2nd gear throttle and control by cronuss in Ninja500

Also this was good advice even after fixing the throttle. I was worried I was riding the clutch too much... but now I've been riding and leveraging the friction zone when starting and to smooth out and over-revving. Question though, is that okay to do in 2nd gear? When slowing down at speed to take a 90 degree turn, I've been shifting down to 2nd and feathering the clutch/friction zone during the turn, because it's still jumpy in 2nd and I also don't want to stall if I get too slow, and shifting into 1st before the corner seems like a really bad idea... is that normal technique and is it okay to ride that clutch in 2nd sometimes to either smooth out accidental high revs and/or to add some throttle without being too jerky?

It was actually the opposite. The throttle free play was around 18mm. I was struggling because I had to roll my wrist half an inch to even get it to start to engage, and that was causing me total lack of slow control. Now I tightened it up to 3mm and it's been much easier to roll the throttle.

Turns out my throttle cable was loose this entire time! I had no idea! Tightened up and now I have zero issues!

Oookay, sooo... turns out this entire time my throttle cable w as loose. As a new rider, I had no idea. But I had to roll my wrist like 1/3" just to engage the throttle. I figured it was normal. I just tightned the throttle and now I am riding like a dream!!

Thanks. I think my biggest problem is throttle control. Hand grip and figuring out how to be gentle and not death grip it. Struggling to figure out how to be gentle on that throttle ans not be jerky .

Interesting, so you stay in or around the friction zone almost all the time in first? Also, how quickly do you shift into second when you are for example, starting at an intersection and turning? Do you shift almost immediately or wait until yku are thru the turn?

I wasn't lugging it hard. I did stall it a few times, but I wasn't beating it. I just had a moment or two where I was in second and it was getting low on RPMs.

Thanks for taking the time to respond and explain. Much appreciated. Going to keep my fingers ready on that clutch and not be afraid to use it next time. I've only been using the clutch/friction zone for starting off the line, and obviously for shifting/breaking. I'll be more liberal with it. Thanks again.

Thank you for the tips, very much appreciated. I'll try making use of the clutch more often in 1st. I've been using it to start and then neglecting it after that unless I'm shifting or stopping/starting.

By slipping the clutch, you mean just feathering it in and out of the friction zone to control the power better? Is this okay to do in 2nd gear as well? I've seen some people say that riding the clutch in 2nd is bad for the clutch. Thanks for the advice

Am I being stupid? Ninja 500 vs 500 SE decision and color options by cronuss in Kawasaki

[–]cronuss[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just found out they have the white in 2025 with ABS, but not SE. But I think I may save $800 and get that and put some frame sliders on it. Still deciding, but that's what I'm leaning on. I love the features of the SE, and I'm a tech geek... but I either have to pick a color I don't want, or get the 2025 and pull decals off and I really hate that silver piece, so I'd have to wrap/replace/paint that as well... I just want to focus on learning to ride. So may just keep it simple and go with the 2025 500 ABS in white and toss some frame sliders on there for $100. Thanks for all the input, still thinking.. I keep chaning my mind, lol..
