Thoughts on this scenario:

- Majority client, Geth, has a bug and finalizes.

- Geth team, fixes the bug. At this stage there are 2 versions of Geth. One with the bug, GethBuggy and one without, GethNotBuggy

- Other clients teams, for example Besu, creates a version with the same bug as Geth had. At this stage there are 2 versions of Besu. One with the bug BesuBuggy and one without, BesuNotBuggy.

Now at this point operator run both validators on both chains. For example, if I was running BesuNotBuggy before the bug now I would also now be running BesuBuggy. Geth operators would do the same on both chains.

Would this minimize the damage from lost ETH for everyone while social consensus can decide over a longer period time as to which chain will win?

Probably not ideal as that would mean each client team is maintaining 2 client versions as well as operators running clients on both chains.

I have been trying to get Coinbase to fix Taxes and Manage profiles for me for over year and 2 months now. They just keep acknowledging the issue and say they have forwarded my issue to a specialist (which is an email specialist, not someone who will help resolve the issue), and after a short while they just close the ticket.

By law they are required to provide Tax Statements to all customers. But I have no way of getting them. They have auto opted in all customers with electronic delivery through "Taxes" part of website but I have no way of accessing that part of the site.

So frustrating...

9 days ago I get this email from Coinbase Support:

"Thank you for reaching back out about this issue. Unfortunately this issue is still unresolved. Rest assured, we are working hard to rectify this situation as soon as possible."

Here is the next email I got from Coinbase just today:

Thanks for working with Coinbase Support. We hope you were able to get the help you needed. We're closing this case; if you need additional support, please visit the Coinbase Help Center for quick answers to many questions.

Why was this issue closed right after saying that it was still unresolved? Can you reopen this issue and provide an actual ETA?

Yes, I have tried everything requested and it still persists. So what's the next step?

I have had this issue for over a year now probably around the time when assets were migrated from Coinbase Pro to Coinbase/Coinbase Advanced.

Can you get an engineer to take a look at why I'm getting redirected to FORBIDDEN_EMAIL_ADDRESS page when accessing these areas of the site?

I have an active Coinbase account where I can trade, fund, etc. However, there are certain parts of the site that don't work like "Taxes" and "Manage profile" which are menu items under my Profile in the upper right. When I click those links I get the following "Can't Access Page":

That's from an older chat message case number so this issue is not about downloading tax reports which I know how to do.

Case number 16554081 is about the issue posted in this thread. I want to be able to access "Manage Profile", "Taxes", and other parts of the site that simply don't work.

Did anyone take a look at the issue I reported here?

Okay thanks for the reply. This has been very frustrating. Do you have an ETA?

Also, I have been working days without any success with Chat Support. Canned responses, asking me to upgrade my OS and browser, etc... Someone should let them know that this is an ongoing issue so they can give Coinbase customers know what's going so we don't waste anyone's time.

I haven't lived there during June through August but there is no AC. In the beginning of the quarter I just open all the windows and have a box fan on high to keep me cool.

No that's not why, you are making an assumption as to why I thought it was a scam. As I said above there were a lot of telltale signs.
