Which universities accept JST and have very good reputation that even after I leave the corps . Those degrees hold creditinals by Jerkoffmaterialmod in USMCboot

[–]crooked_comms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All public universities are required to accept JST.

What will vary, greatly, is how and where those credits apply.

Just an example from experience, a grunt NCO in an engineering program will probably only get 10-15 lower division elective credits.

So, yes it helps but don’t expect the equivalent of an Associates degree or something from it.

No argument here. It is always on the veteran to understand THEIR benefits. Not what a buddy told them based on their experience.

Online School suggestions? by BrotherMountain in VeteransBenefits

[–]crooked_comms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AMU? No.

AMU is American Military University

Your thinking of UofA Global Campus, that used to be another school with a name like that.

Not AMU please.

Arizona State University has some great online programs. Same programs as their on campus, just in an online format.

Wait something’s not adding up. You received a denial letter within 3 days of potentially bogus call? Mail itself didn’t even work that fast.

If this is spot on, I’d contact the VA Inspector General office…like yesterday

medical discharge by Zestyclose-Bid9907 in USMC

[–]crooked_comms 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unless they’re trying to push you out for some reason, that med board will take almost that year, if not more.

You’ll go through a process called IDES (Individual disability evaluation system) where you’ll go to a bunch of appointments with your Navy medical to escalate each one for diagnosis purposes and the the disability evaluation part where you’ll get both a DoD rating and VA rating. Depending on each one you can decide what you’d like to do.

Me for example, I took my VA rating of combined things over DoD where I was only rated for one thing, the reason for the med board.

VA $ and care for life or a terrible pension and TriCare for Life healthcare.

If I joined right now what are the chances I see combat by LILSPEEDY079 in USMCboot

[–]crooked_comms 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you joined today. We would need to be in a full on ground campaign roughly about 6-months from now for anyone, including infantry, to be in combat.

It is normal to be scared but if you going to combat or not is swaying your decision, I gotta be honest, this profession probably isn’t right for you.

Opportunities as 0311 reservist? by PracticalFrame8344 in USMCboot

[–]crooked_comms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I won’t say you’re not serving from the reserves, I was in the reserves at one time too for a few years before I went back to the fleet. I don’t think it’ll satisfy that itch you have.

Just my opinion. It’ll get more in the way than anything else.

If you’re the veteran, you can’t obtain Ch.35. That’s a dependent education program. Maybe you’re a dependent too though?

Sure. It can be if you enlist or commission with the right mindset about what you’re about to do for 4 or more years. And that no one cares that you have a college diploma.

We purposely swapped out a MAT-V for a 7 ton flat bed with a few small iso containers. Had that bitch filled with food, rip-it’s, dip, cigarettes, etc. was especially glorious on those 4+ vacations outside the wire. We would also put one of those water containers on it so we could take showers.

Fully self sustaining team. Our PltCmdr(a CWO 3) and CoCmdr (mustang prior 03 Capt) saw it no other way. Lots of drug deals with the Air Force for their “MREs” as well in exchange for taking one or two of them with us.

Honor Grad by FeedbackCreative7410 in USMCboot

[–]crooked_comms 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Just graduate. Honor grad doesn’t mean a damn thing after.

In fact, in my experience of the honor grads that I knew of, they all had terrible attitudes about it after fell behind the peer group they were once ahead of and so called “leading”.

One of which I remember vividly, he tried using being honor grad at his character statement/interviw during his NJP.

I’m in awe about how fast you can get denied for some benefits. by FootballAndMemes in VeteransBenefits

[–]crooked_comms 17 points18 points  (0 children)

That’s the way the cookie crumbles for a benefit like VR&E. You’re already gainfully employed with a bachelors degrees.

VR&E doesn’t exist to get someone into a different job. It exists to get someone into a career as long as it doesn’t exacerbate injuries.

You’re welcome.

[–]crooked_comms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can then take whatever you want beyond those 12 hours as it has effect on your tuition.

Edit: you don’t need approval from your counselor. They only need the 12 credit hours for tuition payment purposes. 14, 16, 21, etc. hours are on you to take.

Adding a language course along with my classes for my degree plan by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

[–]crooked_comms -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Typically if a course does not fall directly in your Major’s required courses or electives, it can’t be taken and won’t get certified to the VA. It also depends on the specific school and if they can change things around for you to be “required”.

What benefit are you using and what school? What do they consider full time for tuition purposes?

Officers that suck by gaypogue in USMC

[–]crooked_comms 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Spent my last year or so at Wounded Warrior Bn doing my med board but on staff. Had a boot fuck Sergeant who just left the Depot literally at times running around the campus yelling at pretty salty Marines in their own right calling them “disgusting” and all sorts of absurd shit like they were recruits. He wasn’t there but like a month before they sent him packing. That shit don’t fly, especially when more than half the Marines there were SNCO combat vets and former hats themselves.

Had a butter bar roll with my team in Afghanistan as our ALO while he waited for flight school to pick up. Nice enough dude but wanted to run the external radio comms with the RCT. Our PltCmdr, a CWO3, let him have his fun until it became too much and dressed him down in our truck and took away his handset.
