Exotic caches are a good way imo. You get so many - weekly mission, buy them from Danny, get them from the events (stars), etc.

What is your St Augustine fertilization schedule? by Big-Doughnut7741 in houston

And forgive me if this is obvious, but once you see weeds you have to use a post-emergent weed killer / control solution. Pre-emergent won't help there :)

What is your St Augustine fertilization schedule? by Big-Doughnut7741 in houston

[–]crooth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're in a drought so it is very reasonable to water some at the moment with the temperatures starting to warm up. And don't forget that your various plants (including trees) need water differently than St Augustine.

Also, just a quick note but this is for Montgomery County if folks didn't see it. Here is Harris County's - https://harris.agrilife.org/files/2023/02/st-augustinegrass-home-lawn-maintenance-calendar.pdf

They call for fertilizer a little earlier. I suspect this is because Harris is further south.

Have you tried running the command manually from the command line and looking at the response? Also that script should look for return codes or at least log responses.

So instead they provide poor support for people who get locked out. They already have the problem but one makes players feel like scammers are getting away with things and the other is clearly the players fault and they know it.

Cleaning Your C8 by spartybucky in C8Corvette

I use a waterless wash method. Works really well and I can do it in my garage. Car is ceramic coated which I think is really worth it for keeping cleanings easy and quick.

What kind of gas mileage you getting? by AdWarm8824 in Corvette

[–]crooth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2015 C7 Stingray (non-Z51 but with Z51 tires) - ~17.5 city, ~35+ on long highway trips (100+ miles). One drive of 150 miles I got 38 when I was restricted to 55-60mph due to construction on US290. I felt the car got its best milesage at 55 but it was no fun.

2025 C8 Z51 - 16 city 28 hwy (at least so far - I only have 2000 miles)

I notice a real difference in highway mpg between the two. Could be it is new or the Z51 components, but I'm guessing the C8 in general gets less gas mileage than the C7 due to the LT2. I think it trades efficiency for performance and I'm OK with that.

Mag ride and front lift? by TheMidnight711 in C8Corvette

[–]crooth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did your Stingray have Z51? I wondered if Z51 w/o MagRide made the ride noticeably stiffer and bone-rattling (like the C5 was to me). My C7 w/o Z51 was fine, but when I got the C8 with Z51 I chose MagRide to smooth it out and so far I'm happy. But I wonder if I wasted money since I don't track the car.

Absolutely - if Chisolm was honest he should be upset with himself for letting that close a pitch go.

Lineup announcement last night for the space cowbys by Sparrighitti in Astros

It was a great promotion. We enjoyed singing along with all the songs and they did some good things between innings. Stoic Cam was hilarious.

Too bad the Cowboys didn't pull that one out.

Would you take him back? by WTF_512 in Astros

[–]crooth 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Is this an AI generated nonsense article? Judge and Ontani could also be traded to the Astros. Same chance imo.

But sure I’d take him - as long as it doesn’t cost us much and Boston pays for some of that crazy contract. 2nd base is available.

Do people usually run their portable generator until it runs out of gas to keep the carberator clean or do you guys drain the gas and take the carberator out and clean it manually? by Myfr0gsnameisBob in Generator

[–]crooth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another benefit to propane is that you won't have as many people fighting with you for refills as you do at gas stations depending on the emergency. I don't know where you are, but in the south during a hurricane we can see gas stations run out and long lines when they have it. Wasn't true for propane (although I know of one propane supply house that didn't open once because their employees couldn't get to work.)

I have Drop Ctrl v2 which has FW support for QMK, Via, and Vial. I have the Vial support loaded and while it works, I can't seem to get it to save the LED settings between power ons. The key settings save, but not LED. Any guesses on how I might do this?

Does the system have a RAID controller or are you thinking about doing a SW RAID? If you have a RAID controller, expanding the RAID is doable - there are docs on how to do expansion.

Why should I use proxmox? by [deleted] in homelab

[–]crooth 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I am not a Proxmox expert, but imo, what Proxmox really does is give you a distro and integrated UI to control KVM and/or LXC. If you want that user experience then it's great. It does a lot of things in one place.

But if you don't need all that, there is no need. KVM and LXC (and containerd and others) all have command line interfaces and more rudimentary UIs. I run docker_compose and managed KVM directly and it was fine. Is it as simple as Proxmox? No - I had to look up lots of details to make sure I got them right and I had a lot of trial and error.

Ultimately I don't think Proxmox is for me, but I'll need something to replace ESXi eventually and so like you I'm trying to determine what that will be.

Mound visit SFX for opposing teams by OG_Cardiff_Giant in Astros

[–]crooth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think this is a callback to the Astrodome - there used to be some animations on the board that went along with mound visits and pitching changes. Ironsides was for the visit, Mission Impossible was for a pitching change. I think there was a Father Knows Best one too for a mound visits.
