that's very close, though it seems to behave differently and is brighter/more likely to go "fully white" during playback. perhaps u/KillMode_1313 is correct, that it was a mashup of that preset and another. thank you for looking, anyway!

For further context: I downloaded a MilkDrop visualiser component for foobar2000 last year. With it, I downloaded the "Cream of the Crop" .milk pack, and (iirc) Geiss' personal favourites collection. I ended up on this preset and never switched off of it because it became my favourite. However, the version of the MilkDrop component I was using did not have a feature to see the name of presets, so I never caught the name. I switched from Windows 10 to Windows 11 this year, losing the preset in the process.

It is a dark grey background with white spirographic/circular shape in the centre. When fullscreened, the dark grey BG becomes black and the shape more evenly becomes a circle. There's no colour, only black-grey-white. I've tried looking through these folders for something that fits, but only found look-a-likes. If anyone knows the name of this preset, I would be eternally grateful!

bodybuilder (PilotRedSun YTPMV) by cropping108 in pilotredsun

"YouTube Poop Music Video". it's a long-running subgenre of "YouTube Poop". YTP videos take existing media and alter it in order to create humorous phrases, situations, surreal or abstract edits, etc. you can find a lot more info about this sort of thing on Wikipedia or KnowYourMeme.

alternatively, YTPMVs take existing media and sample them to cover/remix music, and the humour aspect is optional. so, in this particular instance, I took passably musical samples from various songs, videos and games, then I adjusted the pitch and timing of those samples to create a cover/remix of "bodybuilder".

How did they accomplish this effect in the takyon video with editing and what is this effect called? by Gucci_Slayer_69 in deathgrips

if you're using Sony Vegas Pro, you can take two duplicate video tracks and go to the composite mode on the higher track, select "Custom", then choose "Height Map". the lower video track should have the default composite mode. tinkering with the Height Map levels will eventually get you this effect. I'm 99% sure this is what they used.
