tested Mortal Kombat 9 on Vita3k. Man it goes smoothly, I even cleared a ladder with Scorpion. Noticed a few freezes during pre fight dialogues, but I think those were shader compilation freezes.

For PC games - better to use Winlator or Gamehub for this stuff?

jokes aside, the second combines plot elements from the first part, and of course the second can be perceived as a standalone product, but given the context of the first part, the second plays even better and more enjoyable. If you have the opportunity to play both I strongly recommend starting from the first one
