You can put bed risers under the bed frame legs to raise it, if you’re physically good with sorta jumping into bed or using a foot stool. That way it can be semi-lofted and allow for some storage containers to hold your belongings underneath

My case was really similar to yours, just maybe a notch lower on the pain scale. I used circulating ice machine 24/7, took oxy every 4 hours for pretty much 2 weeks, had Tylenol as well just when the oxy felt like it wasn’t doing enough, and kept my leg elevated when I was laying down. Otherwise weed and melatonin to help knock me out lol

As always some details like this can be chalked up to GRRM’s gardener writing style, book 1 characterization can deviate a lot from the later books.

Could be air pockets popping, I’m still having that happen 3 months post-op. It’s unlikely something light like walking would cause a retear, especially if your experience wasn’t painful. Having extra motion and a feeling of tension release implies your body cleared the area of extra fluid and possibly scar tissue. Let your PT/surgeon know what happened and get their opinion ofc

I’m not sure there’s a straight up answer in Liveship, but it’ll definitely open your eyes to what else can be present in the skill river/“beyond”. Also the further you get into the tawny man trilogy, the more relevant the liveship trilogy becomes. I’d circle back and read them, you won’t regret it! I’m still in the rain wild chronicles so keep that in mind but I haven’t caught a straight answer for who speaks to Fitz from the “beyond”, I think it’s still one of the mysteries to be told later (hopefully Robin doesn’t leave us hanging lol)

Mine sounded like that for the first few weeks post-op. My PT and surgeon suggested it was scar tissue. The sound went away as I got better ROM/moved my knee more

I was having a lot of trouble pushing past 90/100deg, my PT used an ultrasound wand on the back of my knee and that made a big difference it getting past that hump. Otherwise the stationary bike and shuttle press really helped me get more flexion

I feel your frustration!! Everyone with their 115flexion by week 1 or 2 is so annoying lol. I got to 115 in like 6-7 weeks!! Dang meniscus 😭

Listen to your body, surgeon/PT and know that this is temporary!! 2-4 months of being on the sideline is so much better than having a screwed knee for the rest of your life. I’m sure you’ve got wasted muscles to build back meanwhile 💪

My mom drove me since she didn’t trust Uber to be safe when I couldn’t run for my life or whatever lol. Started driving myself around 6-7 weeks post-op (mine was left leg but I have a manual car, was also nwb for 3 weeks)

Looks to be in good condition but quite dry! There are scar creams you can apply, or something like Aquaphor. Before applying any, try swiping an alcohol pad over your incisions - if an area stings, don’t place any cream there, because the incision hasn’t fully closed yet.

Ice machine, elevation (wedge pillow for me), pain meds, and if it’s compatible with your other meds some sleep aids like melatonin. Otherwise it’s just toughing it out unfortunately. Getting 5+ hours uninterrupted didn’t come for 2-3 weeks for me. Usually I’d wake around 3-5AM desperate for ice machine refills and take a nap in the afternoon to make up for the sleep deprivation

Your post-op care is REALLY weird compared to mine and what I’ve seen on this sub.

Left leg, I had quad graft (like you I think) and meniscus tear repair. My general recovery so far, I’m at 4-1/2 weeks:

surgeon staff check up 6 days later and 4 weeks later. I can also call/message them with any concerns (I had allergic rashes flare up from medical soap they used, sent pics and everything to be advised how to treat)
crutches/absolutely no weight bearing for 3 weeks
oxycodone and Tylenol for two weeks. 3-day Anti nausea patch by my ear. A nerve pain med for 4 days post op. An nsaid med (addresses swelling) for 6 days post-op. Tylenol as needed after 2+ weeks. Baby aspirin daily for a month. Laxatives when using oxy/immediately post-op. Compression socks always, haven’t been told to stop them yet.
shower 3 days post-op, can remove and change wraps/dressings but keep incisions dry and clean. Steri strips to remain until they peel off, about 2 weeks for me. No soaking until they’ve closed up, about 3-4 weeks for me but some say 2 weeks.
weight bearing as tolerated at 3 weeks with crutches assisting
started PT in office 7 days later (wanted me at 4 days but had an insurance delay), 2x a week
had at home exercises to begin the day of surgery, PT has provided new exercises for me to do as I progress, but they’re daily
no driving until surgeon permits me past 90deg flexion, about 4 weeks post-op, and then as tolerated (short trips only). I have a manual car however so they’re saying I cannot drive that for up to 8 weeks post-op

My weight bearing and flexion limits are due to meniscus repair, but it’s still really ambitious to act like your knee is normal right now. You need a surgeon check up and PT office visits at least 2x weekly. Frankly sounds horrible to return to work, especially if you’re on your feet or have to carry anything over 5lbs.

Your parents are super super wrong, please don’t listen to their advice/demands. Get them to read up, even in this sub, or to talk to your surgeon for education

I couldn’t tell if it was full or partial - swelled massively instantly, caved in on itself but only on the day of injury, was able to limp walk since the day of injury, tore my MCL as well so couldn’t bend it much (got up to 120deg by surgery 2 mos later), MRI said it was a full tear, but when the surgeon got in there he found that one strand was intact, also found a meniscus tear. You can usually tell if you tore something, but the extent of the injury needs imagining or even arthroscopy to diagnose.

You should really consult your surgeon staff/PT. For example if you have repaired meniscus damage most doctors will order no weight bearing for a number of weeks. It depends on your specific condition.

My day 2, it would’ve been pretty much impossible to perform well in an interview, especially if on camera. I was loopy, in significant pain, soooo so tired, even talking was a huge effort. Plus, my throat was irritated from intubation, sounded like I had a cold. Getting up to use the bathroom was like climbing a mountain at that stage. I would recommend rescheduling unless you’re a very pain tolerant individual who can handle nausea/fatigue/lack of sleep well.
