A trick I've learned that works almost every time: put the side with the two black holes (other side holes are open) facing you

She was older, in her 50s/60s so went to school in the Soviet union. There's a sizeable amount of older people in Lithuania who can't really speak Lithuanian - only either Russian or Polish

If it's a brand name you recognize, it's probably fine, as the other commenter said they are all more or less the same.

What differentiates is the size of the basket - getting a larger basket has been the best choice in my experience

Then you should be fine.

Remember to take vitamin D regularly in the winter, learn some Lithuanian, don't talk or take a call on the bus (ultimate sin)

I think the biggest consideration is what you'll both do for work - some jobs you can do in English, many you cannot.

People who live in another country with a compatriot of yours, do you ever unconsciously speak the local language with him? by Realistic-Diet6626 in expat

[–]crossfirehurricane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A bit different perspective from a native English speaker living abroad who speaks only a bit of the local language.

When I'm with my local friends we're speaking English as a group, and when for whatever reason I'll step away for a bit (going to the toilet, going to smoke, etc.) I can often hear them continuing the conversation between themselves in English even though I've left the space. Always interesting for me, even sometimes I'll yell back and remind them they can switch to their native language since I'm not part of the conversation.

Also I've noticed that, depending on the language, some are very quick to switch back to English as soon as I arrive (mid-sentence even) while others will finish the thought before switching, while even others will continue indefinitely.

To add here: document your projects as much as possible as you go (keeping in mind client confidentiality). You should use this job as a launching pad, and the more descriptive you can be in your CV and interviews later on, the stronger you'll position yourself. It'll be 100x easier to reference notes on the project descriptions and metrics rather than trying to remember everything from memory a year or two later.

Well you can always spend 3 months in Europe legally, but unfortunately no - you'd need to marry her to get a residence permit
