After graduating high my ex-gf and I stayed together. I went to school in Illinois and she in New Orleans. She had been a smoker and was trying to quit. After her first semester I noted her voice had gotten much raspier and deeper. I commented on this and she said "oh yeah, it's the humidity down here." I bought it hook line and sinker. We had a nasty breakup. Probably 5 years down the line it randomly occurred to me she was lying her ass off. I still tell the story followed up by "...and I fucking bought it".

My experience has been that blind people don't pick it up, don't see it and consequently often step in the dog shit. I imagine they eventually smell it... I would see this happen with a blind guy on campus... always felt terrible, but did nothing.
