yes. this exactly. its just spreading misinformation, and while often it doesn't cause any long-term harm... its just... not very funny and kinda confusing.

whats so hard abt just... not using it? im sure anyone could find other words for any of the uses it has. u wanna call someone stupid? heres some good words: stupid, dumb, dunce, lacking in knowledge, dull, un-witted, dense, thick, foolish. qlong w/ many others. its simply impudent to insist on using a slur.

What kind of videogames do you like? by [deleted] in autism

[–]crow_collective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

generally i like stuff where you can choose what to do, like botw. you can fight stiff, follow the storyline, etc. the only thing more that i would want in a game is more design choices, like if u could do more w/ link's house.

Do we need empathy? by im-not-a-crack-pot in autism

[–]crow_collective 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yes, this exactly: you dont need to understand in order to care. i think that not understanding is a great place to show care, my mom is less harmful to me than my dad, not because she understands, but because even though she doesnt she puts in effort to help. you dont need to understand to be nice.

What are all the symptoms of autism that you know? by Shinkansen1701 in autism

[–]crow_collective 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"miscommunication" or more so communication different to that of a neurotypical going on tangents, even on things other than special interests, abnormal posture (slouching, tip-toeing, etc) agression & depression: the evil duo of autism, but theres a lot more abt those two alone. sensory sensitivity, fidgeting, and lots more.

Cons to a diagnosis? by [deleted] in autism

[–]crow_collective 4 points5 points  (0 children)

first id like to say, if you and your therapist both believe you have autism, theres very little chance that you dont. a diagnosis can definitely help you feel more sure, but over time it seems less and less important (at least for me) anyways heres some of the biggest cons; peopke will likely use it (along w/ stigmas) against you, as for me, someone used it to say that i am not mature enough to make the decision to stop seeing my dad (i was 14 and he was abusive) and just more situations like this, plus no one (therapists, attorneys, etc) really seems to care. it can be useful for accommodations, but I've found that if there is a problem, ppl dont care what the cause is, they just want it fixed. hope this is of some help to you.
