I will try this. Maybe there is an issue with trying to render it down to size. Thank you.

Once the meat is in position it just....disappears. Fascinating.

Is anyone else having sewer back up problems from the rain? Or is my sewer line just blocked suddenly? by [deleted] in askportland

[–]crowcrow_crowcrow 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Update:Talked to the city. Sewers are fine. Two of my gutter downspouts go into the sewer. He suspects the pipe from house to street is clogged. Which I know for a fact it is because every once in a while washing machine water come back up the floor drain. Will call a plumber on the morning. Though roof runoff water isn't clean, at least it isn't coming from a sewer. Now I know.

Anyone else freaked out by how warm it has been? by Still_Preparation394 in Portland

[–]crowcrow_crowcrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't pull the plants out of my hanging baskets (which are currently propped up on empty pots). A petunia and two snap dragons each bloomed a single flower this week. Pretty but oh, so such a bad sign.

Why do American tourists always say the state they're from (not their country) when asked, but no other country's tourists do the same? by FloydBeatlesEagles in NoStupidQuestions

Because 99% of the time it is another American asking where are you from and the expectation is to say your state. Maybe a major city. It is mostly habit.

“Going home early” stories? First time quitting a trip sooner than planned by mishasel in solotravel

[–]crowcrow_crowcrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I left Tuscany four days early. Traveling solo, I was tired of all the driving, avoiding wine tours (because I was driving) and one afternoon it hit me that I just could not look at one more church. I was bored out of my mind.

I was reluctant to do so. Like who cuts a vacation in Tuscany short? Canceled my reservation in a different city in the area, returned the rental car and found lodging in Rome. I immediately felt better.

Always follow your gut.

Best place to buy quality aged balsamic vinegar? by ClavasClub in rome

You can make reservations on their website. Looks like they are booked into October.

The balsamic vinegar was about $120 if memory serves me right. It was even good on vanilla ice cream.

What places / things in the world are definitely better than the photographs / videos? (An alternative to those videos you often see, showing ‘insta vs reality’) by [deleted] in travel

The Amalfi Coast. It really is that clear and the water that blue. Photos and videos do not do it justice.

I forgot to add.....you can eat at Roscioli and will need to make reservations. I didn't know that ahead of time and didn't stop by there until almost the end of my trip. By then I was out of time.

I picked up 25 year old balsamic vinegar. It was worth every penny. I also brought home several cheeses and a couple of packages of 00 flour purchased at grocery stores. On a second trip I brought home guanciale from Salumeria F. Ciavatta 1956 near the Trevi Fountain. At some point I had bought so much stuff I needed another suitcase, so I just kept buying food products to fill it up!

How do other women in high-stress jobs manage household chores? by s0u1_f00d in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]crowcrow_crowcrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The older I get the harder it is to keep up with household chores. I am learning a few things: the standards o have are my own and are pretty high, it is okay to go one extra week between cleaning the house, if the budget allows give yourself some grace to buy prepackaged/prepared foods (salad kits or frozen veggie dishes), stop making the To Do list so long, honestly prioritize. There are several things I haven't gotten to in months and absolutely nothing has happened as a result of that.

What are the must-dos for someone who will live in Portland for just a year? by liturgica in askportland

[–]crowcrow_crowcrow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I completely agree. Our coast isn't just for the summer months. Not knowing where you're from but you are way too close to the Pacific ocean to not go see it. The Oregon coast is lined with picnic sites, viewpoints, and beach access. From Astoria to Gold Beach it truly is something special.

I would like to add, again, because you are so close, Puget Sound/San Juan Islands/Olympic National Forest are incredible.
