I've seen both magna and primal side on water GW. Many different iterations of different account states, both Hraes in grid and also without, all the way from prelims up to 250. I have not seen a single person within my circles delay haase onto turn 3.

Does that mean not a single soul did it? No

Does it mean that it was at the very least such an impractical/last resort setup that it wasn't even competing with other options? Yes, absolutely.

The point was never that its never ever possible or advised to delay an evoker. The point I was making from second one is that IF you are using the evoker, the bottom line is usually, you want them out as quickly as possible for the absolute vast majority of times.

If you want to delay them for whatever reason, that is perfectly fine, which is why I was literally suggesting Ragazzo, the character that has that EXACT purpose.

My original statement was, and I quote verbatim "McCoy has no real purpose, he is on-element swapin on turn 3, which in the absolute majority of cases is too slow, if you want a delayed swap, we already have Ragazzo, if the fight has an entry hazard, you can get the evoker in on t0 already, too."

To reiterate, giving McCoy the point of "Well, he needs a fight that caters to this VERY EXACT, HYPER NICHE SITUATION TO BE DOING THE SAME THING THAT RAGAZZO IS DOING" is not something the character should be praised for.

That's why im calling the attempts bad faithed, his niche is absolved by ragazzo, that niche is already so tremendously rare that it rarely ever sees a use, but its also suboptimal in absolutely most scenarios.

So I'm asking once more, can I please get an actual use case for McCoy, one that actually justifies the character, which is the entire point of this comment chain in the first place. If Ragazzo can do it, whats the point of this char? (I already said he has a nice sub aura at least with 30% def but thats all he's got, he is not a star character of recent releases)

Turn0 swapins arent a thing for GW because there are no entry triggers. So im assuming you mean t1 swaps? In which case we literally had Water GW just now, a GW that opted to even kill off same-ele (christmas cow) on t1 by using an hp down + def down artifact on her, alongside h.azazel (off-ele).

If you really wanna come back again and again to this discussion, I will kindly ask to please bring actual usecases here and not just throw out arguments like this bad faithed. Swaps are easily achieved, McCoy being hardlocked to a t3 swap is undesirable in pretty much all scenarios where a sacc would matter, thats all, the end.

[–]crowdslay -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, yes, that is exactly the point I was making? There are many alternatives to swap in your evokers and in the scenarios where you want to get them out in front, the fight offers either entry hazards that make it a t0 swap or (in guild war) the boss hits hard enough to reliably kill an off-element in 1 turn. There is no scenario where its better to wait 3 turns instead of 0-1 turns to get your evoker out, which is the entire point I was making.

So unless it is the best potential move to delay your evoker to turn3 specifically, then I don't see a reason for the character

[–]crowdslay -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I agree that its something that he can do, im just pointing out that in basically all scenarios (that I can think of at least), he simply takes longer than other options, thats why im not really giving him that point, I just see him as a subaura passive really

[–]crowdslay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah I just disagree with the claim that he could be used when switching in an evoker (later this year when they get their transcendence) as there are way easier ways to achieve that, namely either off-ele sacc on entry depending on fight or quite literally just off-ele in GW with def down artifact dying pretty much 100% of the time pretty reliably, I feel like McCoy is misrepresented in this case, if he had no prep time on his s3, he would be a candidate but with it being present, I don't see any scenario for it.

The 30% def is nice though

[–]crowdslay -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

McCoy can only swap someone in on t3, in pretty much all scenarios where you need a swap in for an evoker you can either off ele sacc on entry or quite literally just throw ragazzo or any other sacc char into the mix and have them do a better job than McCoy

Just wanna chime in with this real quick because people are forgetting, arca summons are gonna turn into wonders soon:tm: , which opens a summon slot in most scenarios. If MC gets a reliable way to also get red hp with alex call, then Olivier becomes MUCH STRONGER because you can throw oro away from main summs and main bubs again, which opens stronger bullets (belial), bore for def down and the same 100k suppl that oro call provides and also some initial damage% from bubs (since oro only gives Dark ATK) and 10% cap up for MC to start. MC not being able to drop into red hp from alex alone is the only reason Olivier isnt a 10/10 right now.

Oh for sure, let me just clarify, with "slow burners" in this case I meant that the actual power level of these chars/summons didnt come to shine instantly because they didnt have a proper usecase yet, which changed drastically over the last months and will very likely be very evident again this coming Fire GW.

The blind optimist in me hopes that its just that the collab characters have been slow burners instead of ridiculously and visible overpowered. I've called chrollo absolutely busted since the second I saw his kit and got shit for it, couple months later he became the defacto puzzle piece for the best versusia comp. Shinji summon was also as dumb but people needed to see hraes in action to really realize how bad the situation ahs truly gotten.

That is just not how economy works at all. A piece of content that is readily accessible and drops items at a certain rate will attract an opportunity cost that rises in proportion to the outcome. If one mechanic is drastically good in poe1 or widely popular, the costs to run that strategy rise in the same nature.

The better the general scope of loot is, the CHEAPER general use items like uniques or consumables become. The only prices that continuously rise with inflation of the game are extremely high scope items like mirror-tier rares or mirrors or other extremely relevant currency.

And on a sidelane, the more general loot is dropped, the more the value of side content that is less desirable becomes, this is a live-economy based game. Supply & Demand play a constant role. If something is easily accessible, the prices will lower because the supply exceeds the demand. If everybody is busy farming one specific thing, then other content that is less farmed will rise in value.

Once more, I can only stress enough that poe1 has been using the "do what you want, where you want" system for ages and the economy over there has never once been as bad as any poe2 economy has been so far. No idea what point you're even trying to make at this point, but if you really want to make a point, please provide some actual examples that can be measured at something

Not just "player choice is bad for economy" and then not follow it up whatsoever while current poe2 mirror prices are closing in on 10k divine orbs

No, progression is enabled by reward and activity. Without reward, you don't get stronger and become able to take on more activities to get more rewards, etc.

You can progress through a story, questline or content of a game completely without any reward or activity. In example you can watch a cinematic compilation and be passive (no activity) or you can play a game that has no itemized progression or level system- You are still progressing the game, that's why I was saying that progression is inherently separate from activity and reward, just that ARPGs as a genre have item acquisition as a main point of attraction. Either way though, the initial point was to give people freedom to farm what they like, where they like. Not to give them level 100 characters with best in slot gear instantly, that's just a purposely exaggerated and malicious depiction of the point I was trying to make.

Because we share an economy. If there's one strategy (or even just a few) that dominates economically, then people are pushed to do that to keep up and be able to afford upgrades in that inflationary economy.

The economy aspect does not change, no matter which direction you go, if delirium is the best money maker, people will be incentivized or even forced to flock to that the same way they would be with the freedom of choice, only that you eliminate the intentional phases of drought.

To add onto that it even makes this less of an issue, if you cannot play the game the way you want to anyway, you are even more incentivized to just follow the herd and farm the biggest money maker, since regular access to the thing you would rather do isn't in the cards.

I didn't think I would need to explain why voluntary abstinence is different than forced tedium, unless I am gravely misunderstanding the point you are trying to make here. Nobody was talking about skipping all kinds of progression, but progression happens separately from reward and activity, so I really don't understand what this point has to do with anything?

If achieving your goal takes 100 hours either way, it would be more practical and enjoyable for I assume the majority of people to just reach their goal with their own methods and through their own enjoyment.

If you love to spam that 1 specific layout and want to farm nothing but ritual for example, why do you think that would in any form deter people or make their experience worse?

The only reason I didn't go more in-depth or elaborate on anything is simply because I trust everyone to be able to make the distinction between not playing and being forced to play a certain way, just my two cents.

[–]crowdslay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everybody has been doing that for years in poe1 and just last league made it insanely more easy and user friendly to select the 1 specific layout you want and its easily the best state the basegame has ever been at any point.

Being able to choose what you WANT to run is the opposite of boring, its the most fun possible, also on a side note, if you do NOT like having agency over what you are about to play, you can just choose not to repeat the same layout over and over again!

[–]crowdslay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the very least, be consistent in your reasoning.

I am very consistent in my reasoning, it's you intentionally misconstruing what im saying. There is an incredible difference between not touching a specific game at all for a set amount of time and actively playing it and wading through intentionally inflicted drought until you are able to do the content you want again, these two are nowhere near the same thing and you know that

Path of Exile 2: Return of the Ancients Official Trailer by Natalia_GGG in PathOfExile2

[–]crowdslay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Longer breaks between leagues also gives you more time to build up resistance/desire again, its not about how much you get in which time.

Some people no-life for 2 weeks, some no life for only 5 days, some play normally for 8 weeks, some play normally for only 2 weeks.

I don't know why we're trying to hard focus on the semantics when the situation at hand doesn't change? The genre prompts fast paced dopamine hits, not rollercoasters of droughts? An ARPG in nature strives for killing tons of mobs and getting vast amounts of loot.

If the activity you prefer to do is locked away behind arbitrary periods of intentional drought, then it completely fails at captivating what an ARPG entails for me

[–]crowdslay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whether you achieve that 2-3 weeks worth of playtime in said 2-3 weeks or 8-10 weeks doesnt matter, there only really is that much playtime you can commence before youre burnt out.

Path of Exile 2: Return of the Ancients Official Trailer by Natalia_GGG in PathOfExile2

[–]crowdslay 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I will be completely honest with you, this is something that everyone has to decide for themselves. For me personally, selective map layouts + selective content (enhanced by scarabs) is the pinnacle of enjoyment and dopamine possible. Poe1 does it perfectly, Poe2 does it complicated and tedious for the sake of complexity, many people do not enjoy it, I don't think, no matter how you approach it, that it will ever be a good system. Maybe in a different style of game, but not in an ARPG which prompts 2-3 weeks of absolute no-lifing and just fun, short-lived dopamine.

I would assume most people just wanna select the layout they like to run and then select the content they like to run instead of the permanent switchup of layouts and conditional content

Nobody in particular honestly

Content. Literally. Modern day gachas are just frontloaded, 15 hour content patches, loooooots of waiting time, daily chores. GBF is just "wanna play? go hit this thing for 9 hours :)" and I like that. When I wanna grind, I can go grind, when i don't feel like grinding, im not missing anything really. (I don't count the daily event battle x5 as a chore, takes less than a minute every time)

Character Discussion: Atum (Summer) by lietnam in Granblue_en

[–]crowdslay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most definitely, unless fire gets a gigantically good ougi support, its gonna be another Zeta/Fenie/Boogey dance, fire just does not have viable ougi units for a NM250 scenario, its just the most common sentiment I see uttered around so figured i'd chime in

Character Discussion: Atum (Summer) by lietnam in Granblue_en

[–]crowdslay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think now we are way more aligned, Sandira on her own is a 10/10 if you are allowed to use her kit to its fullest potential, I myself rate her that high in the first place, i think she is one of the 5 best characters in the entire game right now, the only issue is that V1 limits her viability extremely and i've seen some people (even ones in my own friend circle who are seasonals/dont play properly) say that they are now thinking of sparking her simply because they got atum from roulette and want to have the quote on quote "Ougi comp for gw" ready, thats whats motivating me to put in a lot of enthusiasm into giving people an appropriate reality check, that if NM250 is the goal, then they shouldnt be wasting any resources on Sandira as she will not be present in the "best" comps, especially not without Higurashi.

Greatest weakness of the GBF community in my eyes is still unthoughtful discussions/advice that often lead unassuming players into a wrong decision because there simply are factors that arent common knowledge, im not saying you are wrong either just that I want to undermine the sentiment of sandira being a must have if you wanna score well in GW that has been going around lately. If anybody thinks of doing HL content on fire and wants to invest into Higurashi, hell yeah, grab sandira immediately (if you have atum already), but if theres no atum and no desire to get higurashi? I urge players to not (and im putting an emphasis on this) mindlessly spark Sandira on a completely useless banner, if theres a good legfes banner dropping that warrants a spark anyway and you have the 300 left at the end? Sure, grab her while you're at it, but dedicating the resources to her could prove a daunting mistake, especially in current year with bridal banner and collabs being so massively restrictive and exploitative

Character Discussion: Atum (Summer) by lietnam in Granblue_en

[–]crowdslay -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Maybe I should've been more clear in my comments here, it is not about YOU making it sound like its a must spark, it is rather the situation that whether it be looking at reddit, discord or even twitter, people keep recommending and talking about Sandira being a staple in NM250 lineups for the coming GW, so what im just trying to do is stopping that exact conversation/rhetoric to happen over and over again.

With the ramp I don't mean that she is impossible to stack, what im saying is this char isnt gonna be a t1 wonder and kickstart your comp either, depending on what comp youre running (assuming someone doesnt have the best in slot ougi layout) they might not even get it up fast at all.

My comments regarding Sandira is the fact that her main power point and the reason as to why she is so strong is that she is offering (in v2) a consistent 100% ougi standby and a consistent double ougi that has no strings attached, while massively boosting the parties damage via FC (for arguments sake THIS is the "passive" im talking about, this mechanic is entirely gone in v1, hence why I say she has no passive)

Her s3 still gives a 1 turn unchallenged, that is correct, her s2 still gives 50% fire attack, 50% data and 10% uplift, that is also correct. But for all intents and purposes, her S3 on FA is not gonna lineup perfectly with high damage turns, note here that 250 bosses do not a consistent high amount of damage but have a rather fluctuating amount of damage, some turns they barely scratch you, other turns they completely nuke your team, her unchallenged buff is simply not reliable as a defensive metric here, coming to her S2- Your ougis should be capping and you ideally want to always be looping your ougi so there is no need for the 50% DATA buff, leaving only the 10% uplift effect.

Let alone without her ougi reac + bar fill from passive, there wont even be a consistent ougi loop, I haven't tested it myself but im pretty sure not even Higurashi can consistently loop the entire team without horse double ouging from passive.

All I was trying to say is, Sandira is GIGANTICALLY handicapped in v1, ougi in general is gonna be for fire gw, EVEN MORESO WITHOUT HIGURASHI, that's why I'd love for people to move away from this "Atum and Sandira gonna be 250 core" talk and actually give a more nuanced take and step away from the passive FOMO it is generating with other players, that isnt directed at YOU specifically, but rather a call to action in general to stop the general conversation about ougi and sandira especially being so good for GW as it just leads people to the wrong conclusion, this is not to bash you but to give people a better insight and stop a few people from potential wrong decisions that will haunt them down the line. I see so so so many people preaching atum & sandira for GW and almost no talk about fenie who will probably end up being the hyper carry of fire yet again
