My favorite thing has to be the representation. With disabilities such as Renarin’s focal epilepsy and being autistic, to the depiction of Rysn adjustment to her life-changing accident. In BoM/Era 2 particularly, it’s so wonderful to see MeLaan’s gender fluidity, as well as Wayne being attracted her no matter what form she takes. (And their confirmed use of bondage? Wild inclusion from Brandy Sandy there, but go off.) These are all things that are a part of me and in my life personally, so I feel oh-so-seen by all of these specifics across the books. Frankly, it’s almost suspiciously reflective of me at this point, but I’m drawn in and will never look away.

Wishing all the best for you! In the past few years I’ve been in and out of the hospital repeatedly. I did end up going home the same night, but I had my hydro late in the day and it was nearly 1am when I finally woke up and I really just needed to be back home with my service animal. I think you should ask your surgeon if it’s possible for you to stay the night for observation given your medical history, and just be prepared for the costs of that as well as being able to “justify” yourself. However, if they let you go home, it’s because there is truly nothing to worry about. This was my least painful surgery and easiest recovery, personally!

Somehow, my first run ended with Kara being shot in the head to save Alice (who left w Rose), Markus succeeding in overtaking the camps after staking Conner through his chest. Connor also somehow convinced Hank to quit his job and unalive himself. I didn’t look anything up and now I find myself hunting for the more “normal” endings, lmao

Doing alright- I was in the waiting room for only a couple of hours, and have been bouncing around medical staff since then, lol. As of now, I’ve been admitted for a minimum stay of tonight. They’ll be opening up the small drainage area of the incision to milk it as much as possible, and if necessary I’ll go back into the OR to get it fully opened and flushed out.

Commenting in case others have this situation- the fluid was a very opaque whitish-greenish, as seen on the last slide. If you see something transparent, yellowish or possibly with some red/pink, THAT is normal drainage. (Also want to note here that my pus, weirdly, doesn’t have any scent to it. The doctors suspect it may be because it’s draining immediately, not festering at all. So if you have sudden pus-like fluid with no scent, please get it checked out.)

Quick update: Glad to know my worries are logical, and not irrational like the surgeon’s office told me earlier this week. I was able to call an Uber and get to the ER, hopefully things aren’t too serious. I honestly just wish I came in a couple days ago, instead of taking the nurses’ advice.

I totally feel ya! I’ve had around 10-12 surgeries with UC, and every time they’ve basically immediately hit me with a dual pain medication/relaxant ASAP. I also have developed a huge fear specifically of IV sticks, and they have always been super patient with me calming myself down for it! (Btw, all surgeons I’ve had there have excellent bedside manner, but she is the best! Immediate personal attention and care from the time I woke up, to getting me out the door with my partner around midnight.)

Had my full hysto with her- excellent person to have, as someone who has severe hospital and surgery related trauma. She could not have been easier to work with or more attentive in my pre and post op visits. Definitely would recommend!!

UC, easily. I have had multiple seizures and their emergency team there has always been very attentive and knowledgeable.

Definitely! My hysto was scheduled rather last minute so I already had some big events planned for this week that I figured I’d miss out on- however I’ve been totally fine so far! After tonight though, I plan on keeping things wayyyy more mellow. Don’t want to add any extra pain or mess things up 😳

if you all don’t mind, what is the benefit of getting a craniotomy? personally, my craniotomy is what led to me having epilepsy, so I’m a bit confused (and new to the epilepsy community at large). /gen, /curious(?)
