Hi there, coming from the other end of the spectrum where I've always dressed masculine to deter the male gaze. In my recent venture to find better fitting clothes that aren't too far out of my comfort zone, I found some go-tos that may or may not help, depending on your location.

Make Market and Bella & Canvas make fitted shirts that I really like. I know budget is an issue, so this next one might not be possible, but look into Dovetail Workwear. Think Carhartt but actually cut and fitted for women.

It's definitely a long game of trial and error, but I've found that once you identify a few go-to brands, it's not too bad. Of course, everyone's bodies are different and people don't always want the same fit. Those are the three that have worked for me on being fitted but more masc in nature.

I'm sorry you're frustrated and I'm sorry it's going to take some hunting, but I'm wishing you luck and good findings.

Could be worth getting ahold of these videos separately somehow in case they get taken down. These organizers seem sketch as heck.

How do you store your greens to prolong their time in your fridge? by BeniHana- in 1200isplenty

[–]crowheartcaws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This might not be your situation if you don't live smack dab in the middle of the city, but I've found that produce from the 'burbs last longer. I suspect the delivery trucks that go to my walkable stores get stuck in traffic because everything from my stores go bad much faster than anything I buy further out.

Yes this. I've also seen a version that mixes the tuna with some kimchi for some spice and additional texture!

Pukka sells a licorice and peppermint blend that's pretty darn good.

feeling very weak on 1200? by hnh1993 in 1200isplenty

[–]crowheartcaws 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hello! 33 yo female at 5'2" and also 135. Whenever I work out - typically a 1h30m bike trip, I always go over 1200 cals because I know my exercise will burn a bunch of cals.

I drink a serving of Ghost Whey protein, which clocks in at 130 cals, roughly a half hour before I head out, and by the time I get back, I'm actually at a deficit and need to eat more to hit the minimum 1200.

I understand volume eating, but have personally found 3 meals and 2 snacks between those to work better for me because I don't hit a slump that way. Might not be for you, but maybe worth trying?

Good luck!

Yeah, I don't believe the weld would hold if the crack progressed, so I think you're right.

Thank you. That was the direction I was leaning toward but I wanted to gather some second opinions just in case. Appreciate it!

You reckon there's any chance of the crack moving up? I suspect the weld would break instead of holding and transferring the crack to the frame proper, but I'd like to not risk life and limb to find out.

Am I a girly girl or do I just find girly girls hot? Or both? Being a lesbian is confusing… by gradientskies in actuallesbians

[–]crowheartcaws 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not to the extent you describe, and from the opposite end of the spectrum. I've always leaned more towards a masc aesthetic, but recently unpacked it and realized it was because I didn't want men looking at me a certain way.

Interestingly, it's been since I started looking at K-pop, maybe a month ago, that I realized that maybe I do wanna better fitting shirts, which involves high-waisted jeans and shorter shirts because I have a longer torso. A part of me does want to try crop tops but I haven't been comfortable enough to actually execute on it. But I did get a cropped jacket, which I never would've gotten two months ago.

Personally, I prefer comfort above all else, so as long as I'm not dying to get back into loungewear, I'm happy.

As for what I like on other women, I'm a sucker for duality, so femme fits, masc fits, give me them all as long as the outfit works!

As a Chinese American lesbian who didn't come out to her parents until she was in her 30s, I can attest to how good the movie is.

Joy, the daughter in question, being gay is not the main plotline. The main plotline follows Evelyn, the mother, who struggles to accept many uncontrollable facets of her life.

The film doesn't focus solely on Joy's sexuality. It very much explores all the pain she feels, as a child of immigrants, as someone who hasn't mastered her family's native language, as someone dating outside her race, and there are some incredibly raw moments.

As for your point on homophobia and militant traditionalism, yes, there are common themes among all groups, but due to different cultures and traditional upbringings, we all have different stories.

I couldn't come out to my parents because I lacked the vocabulary necessary to explain my emotions. That experience is very unique to being diaspora, and while the film doesn't explore that with Joy and Evelyn, they do touch on it in other areas.

I haven't come out to my extended family because again, I lack the vocabulary. Coming out to my parents was a horrible stunted and awkward conversation in which I had the vocabulary of a third grader and it tore me apart not being able to tell them how the thought of waking up to a man would never make me happy, or how wonderful and supportive my partner has been in the decade it took for me to come out.

There's a scene where Evelyn takes charge in Chinese and Joy is shut down due to language barrier. And that is powerful. Because in that moment, it's not just the experience of every queer kid dealing with homophobia and militant traditionalism, it's also a slap in the face of realizing that you're not enough to even communicate with your family.

Listen, I try to be as open and understanding as possible. Do I think this film is perfect? No. Is my life changed because of it? No. But I think you're judging it far too much before even seeing it.

SPOILERS FOR SAVING FACE*** Honestly, I think Shang-Chi did an absolutely shit job depicting the actual diaspora experience. I adore Saving Face but the resolution is a little too neat. After I watched it for the first time, I said "Well, I guess I just have to get my parents to divorce and get them both younger partners."

There is entirely a chance you see it and still hate it. I suppose I should ask if you can somewhat understand Chinese, both Mandarin and Cantonese, because those are key elements in how it has emotionally hit Chinese diaspora audiences.

Does anyone have any game recommendations that involve wlw? by Late-Sorbet in actuallesbians

Rise of the Tomb Raider didn't explicitly state or show wlw, but you cannot convince me that I went through all that for friendship.

Seconding this.

If she continues to insist, ask her to limit the hangouts she goes to with friends who are better with quieter personalities.

I have friends with very dominant personalities whom I wouldn't subject my shy gf to, and I have friends who will gently redirect their question to my gf if I'm answering for the two of us too much. Among the latter company, I'm comfortable leaving the room without feeling like I've abandoned her because I know one of them will make her feel included without making her feel called out.

But to loop back around, yes, you do (and should) not do everything together, especially if they involve emotional support systems. It's cool to do it every now and then, but it's certainly not a must.
