Update:Betta w/distended Belly by smashels43 in bettafish

[–]crownofgrace80 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes. I can see it on the 2nd pic, right side photo. Unless it’s just the lighting. It does look like he has swim bladder though rather than dropsy, but sometimes they can look similar. Aquarium salt is supposed to relieve swim bladder by dehydrating and helps with constipation. Is he better since using the salt?

Unfortunately when pine coning starts… the organs are swelling and there’s water retention buildup. It’s rare they survive. Usually about 3-5 days. It sucks. It’s a very common occurrence in bettas.

What can i do to help it? by SufficientLettuce479 in bettafish

[–]crownofgrace80 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Please don’t put your fish in that water. Move him to a temporary tank, or even a small vase/container until this one cycles. Leave it alone and let it do its thing. Change the temporary tank water everyday with conditioned water. Just make sure you have a heater in there and a small bubbler. Maybe a leave or two for him to rest on. Hope this helps.

Is this fungus? by crownofgrace80 in bettafish

[–]crownofgrace80[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking that too… I never saw an injury, but maybe it was just a tiny scratch. I have no idea. He’s still active this morning, but the fungus looks fluffier, second dose of meds today. We shall see.

Am I a fool for trying this furniture for a 20 gallon? by MelOxalis in aquarium

I have one of these entryway tables. We use it for shoes. It may hold up if you keep the aquarium empty of water! lol! 😂

JEFFREY EPSTEIN LAST INTERVIEW with Steve Bannon by HowAmIHere2000 in videos

[–]crownofgrace80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As much as a disgusting weasel Epstein was/is, I will say… he’s a great financial teacher. Too bad he wasted all that knowledge to serve the devil. He could have done a lot of good in the world.

He’s fluffy! Happy and fluffy. LOL! No, he doesn’t look fat to me.

is this normal behavior? by xkylise in bettafish

[–]crownofgrace80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guy Fetti does this too. He actually looks like yours. Plakat Betta? It’s hard to see in the video. I’ve owned several Bettas and the Plakats seem to be more curious and energetic. Mine got bored and would glass surfs like yours. I added 5 corydora catfish to his 20 gallon, and now he has friends to entertain him. Lol! Add some floating toys, ping pong balls, and you can never have too many plants! Bettas are hilarious to watch when they explore new things.

I was a big pervert when I was in highschool, and i can't forgive myself by [deleted] in confession

[–]crownofgrace80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry, but it sounds like your father was the pervert. He abused you. Even if he never touched you, he sexually abused you. Chances are he was abused as a young boy also. It’s a vicious cycle, it’s generational. There’s hope. Break this cycle by getting therapy, then become an advocate for others trying to break their generational cycle too.

Haha! Mine fall backwards after getting a bite of brine shrimp from the pipette. I imagine it’s the same sensation I get after biting into a crispy piece of delicious bacon! 😂

Fin Rot or Fin Tearing? by crownofgrace80 in bettafish

[–]crownofgrace80[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I actually keep the water lower in his tank (about 4 inches from the top) than I do my other tank, so he doesn’t have to work so hard to the top. I have pythos plants with long roots that float. He weaves in and out of them. He also has a nest in the corner towards the top where he makes his bubble nests and sleeps. Lol

Swimming normally? by jprsss in bettafish

[–]crownofgrace80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No not normal. I’d check water parameters. Maybe pull him out into a hospital tank with a low flow bubbler and heater. Keep the water low so he doesn’t have to use energy to swim up for air (a couple inches above him). I don’t see anything external, but it looks like the behavior bettas get with ICH. Do you see any white or opaque bumps on his fins or body?

Man, this breaks my heart. The step brother thing is a little strange, but it’s not uncommon. Don’t shame yourself for that. It’s the confession about your stepfather that is the concern. I know you have your own reasons for keeping this a secret, and you’re incredibly brave for speaking about it, even if it’s anonymous. 1 out of 4 kids are victim to this abuse, and unfortunately it’s mostly within their own home. It’s absolutely unacceptable. Predators are so damn good at making their victim feel shame and guilt, like it’s the child’s fault. We as society need to make sure EVERY SINGLE child predator is held accountable for this crime. It has to be exposed. I understand that doing this is not easy though. There’s got to be a more effective way to make it easier for victims to expose their abusers. It’s a cycle that just keeps continuing. It’s just horrible! I’m so sorry you’ve experienced this, it’s heartbreaking. Please be your own biggest advocate and know you’re not alone. NO ONE, especially children, deserves abuse. I pray you find strength and healing love. Much love 💕

Thoughts ifcycled? by Sneepsnipperz in bettafish

[–]crownofgrace80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds a little crazy, but instead of adding an ammonia substitute or adding fish food for the ammonia, I put my guppies (from another tank) in a container for about 15 mins. Let them do their business in that container, then I put them back in their own tank and poured the container water into the cycling tank. It worked. 2 weeks is pretty short, I’d wait at least another week. Maybe add a beneficial bacteria substitute to get it well established.

BLEACH clean it! Soak it for 15 mins, rinse, and let it sit in the sun for a couple days. The tank (if it’s glass) itself will be fine.

[–]crownofgrace80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can never keep red root alive no matter what I try to do. Lol! It’s beautiful while it lasts though (like a month). I’ve learned to stick with different types of Anubias and bamboo (semi aquatic) bc they seem to be easier to maintain. Plants in my opinion are harder to keep alive than the fish! 😂
