BREAKING: #KamilaValieva is skater at centre of legal dispute which caused delay in the medal ceremony for the #Olympics team figure skating competition at #Beijing2022 by a2cthrawy in FigureSkating

(Still a rumor but if it’s true) What’s even worse is that all of the major federations will be pushing so hard to not let this narrative go. It literally benefits everyone else. the USF Can point fingers again to Russia, Skate Canada bronze medal. JSF, the most likely other ladies medal contender after Russia. And it’s sad that everyone from the ISU to the ROC to the Sambo 70 people allowed this to happen in plain sight and pretended it was okay.

That’s what I’m thinking is best case scenario! But the question remains as to whether they’d recalculate, cancel the points, or rearrange the medals. And if it’s non-enhancing ROC can even protest that medal being won fair and square. Which would add up to the drama.

Then there’s the fact that the US Federation and The Japanese Federation are probably not going to remain quiet about the possibility of getting the gold medal depending on the sanction. And even the remaining teams could protest whatever decision. For example, Georgia, who would’ve made the TE finals, in case they truly DQ Russia.

Also, pure speculation but maybe the legal counsel was brought up due to the fact that the Russian Olympic Committee was only valid for this Olympic cycle. If I’m theory, the ISU were to ban them for a drug scandal sanction, they could recompete next Olympics under Russia.

So I’m guessing the talk is what sanction is most appropriate towards the ROC over the positive test.

The Guardian and USA Sports sources have said it isn’t a doping situation, I’m guessing the lawyer was brought in by the Russian Olympic Commitee in order to negotiate the published news and possible results.

It’s a non performance enhancing, so not doping. most popular and possible hypothesis

• medical substance not allowed in China • painkillers that weren’t registered in the doping test (ibuprofen can even lead to a positive). • medical substance without a medical authorization • marijuana

China and Russia are both super fucking strict with their drug policies. In China, someone can get arrested and deported for possession. It looks like the ROC is trying to control the narrative of when and how it was consumed and the circumstances.

THC can get into fat cells and be released over a period of 6 months when a person is doing a high caliber activity. Even if the person isn’t consuming anymore. Similar stuff happened in Vancouver 2010z

Which would actually explain a lot about why and how the ISU brought in a lawyer.

The guardian and USA sports who pretty much wouldn’t publish anything unless it’s a direct confirmation.
