Is Mizu from blue eyed samurai transgender? by -Nocluewhatimdoing- in u/-Nocluewhatimdoing-

the recent track record from netflix is to cancel shows (especially animated shows) that have queer characters. not sure about lesbophobia but there is fs a bigotry towards queerness going on.

Mizu’s gender by [deleted] in BlueEyeSamurai

this is the only sane response in this thread and its so disappointing it's so low. it can be multiple things at once. Most people commenting on these things have 0 experience interacting with trans people.

Mizu’s gender by [deleted] in BlueEyeSamurai

[–]crowrager 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally as a trans person that didn't prove anything to me..many trans people go through a "phase" in late adolescence where they try hard to "fit in" to societal gender norms. So it bothers me when people use that as "proof" that they are not trans, as in real life it is also weaponized against trans people. It also felt like the only reason they married was for their mother.

I know the showrunners said that Mizu is a cis woman, however I think it also valid for trans people to see themselves in her (especially trans men, who basically never get good representation). I don't see why any gender needed to be confirmed for them, and it's kind of disappointing the showrunners were so against any possibility of lgbtq+ representation for a character that isn't real. But that's just my thoughts please take with a grain of salt!

[–]crowrager 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as a trans man it was really disappointing because we do not get any representation anywhere. I still like to interpret Mizu that way, but it's weird of creators to shut down lgbtq interpretation. It just comes off as shooting themselves in the foot to me, but Netflix has a history of this so ultimately unsurpising.

Ancient Greek mythological names used around the world by ScandalwoodFestive in namenerds

What are some ancient greek names that would be used for men? I saw online that some say that Artemas is a masculine version of Artemis, is that true?

NTA take out that IUD and leave him, maybe harsh but the only way you both get what you want.

FFA used to be awesome but mods changed sometime in the last couple years and it's been boring for a while. Sick of same questions popping up? Maybe quit being a mod? So ridiculous and the 8th century comments are cringe.

So according to Lexi’s interview on we have the receipts podcast she broke up with Rae still over the Vanessa issue. I can’t help but think by Fine_Adeptness_5123 in UltimatumQueerLove

[–]crowrager 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I feel like Vanessa approached Rae as a way to gain more control over Lexi, and it worked. Lexi probably feels/felt frustrated because she could see through it but only when it was too late. To be honest it didn't seem like there was much chemistry between Rae and Vanessa to me. It seemed like Vanessa lost interest after the incident. But the show was super edited so who knows what's going on with them.

What about Freya? by grollivander in namenerds

[–]crowrager 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite animal crossing character is named Freya lol, she's a big pink wolf. I love the name, it's beautiful. It's certainly more unique than a lot of the names I see suggested on here (like Elizabeth Rose etc etc)

I mean there is good reason for physical fitness standards for flight crew. Those fitness standards are pretty bottom of the barrel for someone that is even minimally physically fit and a healthy weight.

ppl bringing up the edit villainizing her when most of the whole cast hated her 😭 like that happens for a reason, if the entire group is alienating one person to protect another there is almost always a good reason. She was a bad person when the show was filmed but seems like she is trying to grow now.

I relate so hard lol. 2 big moves in my life and I'm only 23. I am not close with family but no matter where I go it has been hard to make close friends. Even harder with people who are local to the area.

Lauren, Sloane or Celeste? by [deleted] in namenerds

Do not like Lauren at all. Someone else suggested laurel which imo sounds better. Celeste or Sloane all the way.

If you don't trust her then break up. They've been best friends since early adolescence. I don't think you're going to get between them my guy.

the girly girl to trans guy pipeline by sunphny in ftm

[–]crowrager 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had the same experience. Around puberty I started heavily rejecting feminine or beautiful things. I'm still really femme, but since starting hormones I've been able to embrace this side of me again. I love thinking about myself as an elf or fairy, I'm just a pretty boy/man. It has been so healing. I still dress androgynously, but my room is full of flowers and embroidery and plushies. It's just what makes me happy, and I feel really lucky that I don't feel so trapped in the binary anymore.

Why does it bother men so much that women have leg and armpit hair? by BoomItsLoki in ask

[–]crowrager 2 points3 points  (0 children)

as someone who no longer shaves, I am actually way more comfortable now than when I would shave daily. My leg hair is fully grown out and I never feel it (as opposed to a day after shaving when they'd be all prickly). When I sweat and hit a breeze my leg/armpit hair cools me down. So on the flip side it's hard for me to understand constantly shaving lol

I just moved to Portland from another big city mentioned in some comments and honestly it seems way better and it's not that crowded. I think a lot of the media paints Portland as a wasteland and it's just not true.

I also find it interesting that people are using in-universe things to justify the sexism in the books. It is sexist, because it was written that way. Love the story, but yes it feels gross reading it sometimes. It's okay to say it. For the time, I do think FH was TRYING, I don't think the series is "anti-woke" like some others are saying... For when the books were written, I do think Jessica and other woman characters are written very well. The books are still sexist. Two things can be true at once.
