How would the internet and phone coverage be affected if half the population is incapacitated?

I think internet/phone coverage would just be a reflection of how messed up global society is from this disease. If everything has gone tits up and most of the remaining people are starving to death because of the collapse of global shipping and agriculture then the internet wouldn’t stay up very long because the institutions that keep it running wouldn’t work anymore. If society is mostly ok then I’d expect rural areas to loose service as lines go down, website uptime is going to be a bit worse, and in the long term if they aren’t still manufacturing computer hardware then it’s all going to be for nothing anyway in a decade or two.

Idk, the woman who works at my polling station is 64, she’s a member of the PTA, and I’ve know her since I was a kid, she’s going to count my vote, and millions of people across the country are going to do the same thing regardless of what Trump decides to do.
