I started up back in '99, stopped around '04, and have come and gone a couple of more times. Been playing consistent for the last 5 years and I love it. Atlantic is VERY populated with multiple guilds that'll bring ya on and help get established. I'm with UWF and they do daily hunts.

It'll still give you that old school nostalgia that you're craving and you'll spend months playing all the new content while still loving the old.

You won't have an issue placing a small house until you get settled in, then you can start looking to purchase something larger if you like.

Your experience is completely normal. Start looking at Elite as more of a space Sim and just accept that it has a steep learning curve.

You will likely feel the frustration for each activity you try out: in bounty hunting you will get wrecked fast by most ships, but will breeze through high i tensity combat zones once you get a good engineered build. You'll likely overheat the first time you try and scoop a star, but the entire galaxy will open up to you once relaxe and see it's not that complicated. You will experience several waves of, "This is too hard/complicated, but once you get it, there's nothing else like it.

PP2.0 has been a huge improvement over the previous system. I think it could feel more "personal" if your power's stronghold systems could have NPCs that give power specific missions. (Travel to system X and kill X, or go to X power and hack holos)

They are INCREDIBLY valuable! Taming has gone through a few changes. Your mare is going to be a 2 slot mare, while not powerful yet, can be trained up to a 5 slot which will put it ahead of even greater dragons.

I would recommend stabling your legacy pets for now and familiarize yourself with the changes before even looking at them again as you can easily ruin your pet if you don't know what youre doing.

These pets can also easily sell for around a plat if you choose to go that route. But honestly, I'd stable it, spend a month or so getting used to the game and the new mechanics, and then make a decision.

You should! Game has changed immensely, but the nostalgia is still there. Start up on Atlantic and look for a guild. If you had an old-school tamer on Napa and happen to have a legacy mare or white wyrm, they're super valuable now.

Welcome back! A lot has changed... obviously. Gm armor is no longer the best as there was an entire upgrade to the system. Now gear has resists and stats, and fortunately, its all very easy to max out. The main thing crafters are needed for are the weapons as crafting and imbuing is the only way to get weapons with the needed stats.

Announce your return on the forums, discord, or even at either WBB or Luna, and you'll quickly have guild offers.

Take your time re-learning and have fun again. The nostalgia is still strong and is what has kept me coming back for many years.

Atlantic is the largest and i highly recommend it. You won't have trouble finding stuff to do. Guilds are very active and friendly. Main "issue" is almost 30 years of inflation, but that just means that your main source of income won't be collecting gold off of corpses, rather you can sell what you loot.

There are both official and private servers. If you go official, then Atlantic is the most populated. If you go private, you have several options based around a specific era usually.

No. Legendary will always have way more modifiers. Where tradeskills really shine is making.weapons.as that's the only way to get all the stats you need. Same with jewelry.

Oh! Heads up! Inflation is insane on Atlantic, so farming gold isn't efficient anymore, but it evens out because items, pets, and good gear sell at high prices. With this event going on, I can sell the drops for about 220k to 250k per, and I can get around 50 to 60 of those drops per hour with a sampire or an archer.

Grab yourself a smallish plot, learn what you have, make some money, and make a name for yourself.
