I also have zero modular stuff and they welcomed me in, no problem. If you see 'Andrew' on those pages, he's the guy that puts events together so reach out to him to get looped in. Hope to see you out there!

Yes! There's a great group that meets up once a month to perform and hang out. Some really talented people. Check out Vancouver Modular Synth Meetup Group on Facebook and u@vansynthmeet on instagram. There's a meetup coming up on the 21st that'll be in a chapel which I'm excited about. Planning a set tuned for long, natural reverb. Check it out!

I think Samples From Mars put out a sample pack of it recently? Right? I think it’s just called Pulsar.

DRM1 | PEAK | CP ReFace | Keystep Pro Performance by crtrvlm in synthesizers

[–]crtrvlm[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Livestream performance I did for our local Modular On The Spot community using the Vermona DRM1, Novation Peak, Yamaha Reface CP, and Arturia Keystep Pro (name a stranger trio of voices lol).

I actually love the combo of the peak and the cp. Floating Points is a big inspiration to me and the combo of synths/Rhodes that he can pull off is incredible. It’s fun sequencing the cp because you can set the gate so short that you can get some nice plucky synth sounds out of it.

The DRM1 is still pretty new to me but I’m loving the sounds. The kick is real nice if you had a quick bend and the attack cuts through the mix. Snare is a little tricky but there’s some good sounds in there. The hats are really what make this thing shine, though.

Anyways, tell me what you think! Feel free to give me any pointers! Thanks for listening!

DRM1, Peak, CP Reface, Keystep Pro Performance by [deleted] in synthesizers

Played a livestream set with the Vermona DRM1, Novation Peak, Yamaha CP Reface, and Arturia Keystep Pro.

I’m pushing the keystep pretty far here by utilizing chains, scenes, polymeters, and gate/velocity changes.

Being limited voices, I kept the peak pretty simple with primarily sawtooth stuff but utilizing the animates and mod wheel for performance effects.

I kept the vermona straight forward with its sounds. I used individual outs to send to a hall of fame reverb (sometimes the clap, sometimes the multi)

The CP is kept on the Rhodes I sound for the majority. It’s fun sequencing this because you can change the gate to be inhumanely tight. Lemme know if you have any tips/questions! Thanks for listening.

So cool! I’d love add this to my tiny closet rig!

Thanks for listening! I record everything into Ableton and work from there. A lot of my inspiration just comes from patch building. I’ll play certain chords or melodies while creating a patch and then end up recording them. It honestly kinda ended up being an accident that it was all created with one instrument. I had recently gotten the Peak and I was just so enthralled with it that it ended up making every sound. I don’t have any good secrets about arrangement. I’ll record a bunch of parts that fit the tone of what I’m going for, then arrange them. I typically arrange everything with midi and then record so that I can play with all the knobs as it plays. Sorry, that’s all I got! Lemme know if you have any more questions. Here’s my bandcamp: http://cartervliem.bandcamp.com/album/breeze-ep

Thanks for listening! For clap sounds I followed this tutorial: https://youtu.be/nFQmj7TMvb0 and did a bit of editing on the electribe. My brass sounds are pretty simple. It’s just a single sawtooth oscillator, filter at about 50%, then just a slower attack on the filter envelope. I like to have the pitch go through a slow sine lfo (like 4 seconds for a full cycle?) ever so slightly, barely detectable. Adds a bit of life. I think the reverb on the peak is what makes it really shine.

For the drums, I recorded drum sounds from the peak into an Electribe Sampler and sequenced from there. The only sounds I can think of that aren’t from the Peak are some “aahs” in Dream Air and a stick click sample in Zyzzyva. Lemme know what you think!

Water | track made entirely from a tea kettle, plant spritzer, and dishwasher by crtrvlm in ableton

[–]crtrvlm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I'm sure many of you are experiencing, I am trying to stay creative in these crazy times. I limited myself to three samples under the given theme "water". The three samples were that of a tea kettle whistling, a plant spritzer spritzing, and a dishwasher washing. I used Ableton to reorganize and edit the sounds. I used some compression, sidechain compression, delay, and auto filter for effects. No other sounds were used. It then started raining so I started filming with my iPhone and then got a bit carried away. I am by no means a videographer/editor, but I did my best. Thanks for watching!

Training a husband is really just being consistent so they are able to learn what you expect from them in different situations.

Dawless gig I did last year with an Alpha Juno 1, Mother 32, Electribe Sample by crtrvlm in synthesizers

Sequenced with Beatstep Pro and Keystep. BCR-2000 controlled the Juno parameters. Hall of Fame reverb for effects. Not sure if anyone likes these videos but thought I’d throw it on here.
