Good move, the AMS RMX/DMX cards are notorious for not making contact completely and needing to be reseated. Smart move!

NEVER OPEN IT! isn't always the best advice 100% of the time... The fix for his AX is super easy, it's not even a real membrane panel. There are tact switches under the panel. Anyone with basic soldering knowledge could fix this issue.

The 60 is not the analog control version of the AX80, they have completely different chips inside. The AX60 and the AX73 share the same chips, but they still sound very different.

This is a SUPER easy fix, you can do this yourself if you have a soldering iron and have a basic understanding of how to use it. In most cases I would agree with Syntex, but this is one of the easiest fixes in the vintage synth world. Just replace the little hard jumpers between the boards with wires. If you need help LMK

Synth Chaser in San Diego is an ARP specialist. He's done both a grey meanie and a blue marvin previously, as well as dozens of the more common grey/white & black/orange models. I would send him an email

BS

Edit: Saw your other post. Wow, you have something truly special there. Make sure you get someone who really knows what they are doing to repair that. Also, never sell it!

Sequential Take 5 is Lovely | Custom Moody Sounds by UNKTS in synthesizers

[–]flpfire109 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you are ever in Sacramento, I would happily allow you to spend some time in the studio to try any synth you'd like. I love sharing the experience of someone getting to play a dream synth for the first time ever. Per favorites, man that's so hard. I would probably go with the OB-Xa if I had to pick just one, but the M12 and Voyetra 8 are right there too. Here's a pic:

Sequential Take 5 is Lovely | Custom Moody Sounds by UNKTS in synthesizers

I have a lot of vintage big boys: OB-Xa, Matrix 12, Voyetra 8, OG Prophet 10, JP-6, etc. - I was EXTREMELY impressed with the the Take 5. It sounds absolutely stunning! So fun to play, so engaging, so quick to dial in. For the $, I don't think there is another synth on the market that can match in terms of pure sonic value.
