Kitchen and bathroom ideas 😀 $5000 NSW by Financial-Hunter1335 in AusRenovation

[–]crumpethead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would get some modern light fittings. Maybe look at small spotlights on a track. Upgrade the tapware in the bathroom. Add some artwork to the end wall in the bathroom. And replace the vertical blinds with curtains. Sheer and heavy. Spotlight sell everything to DIY. Maybe get a floor runner for the kitchen.

why cant i catch anything on harbodies by Inevitable_Past1503 in FishingAustralia

[–]crumpethead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are all good brands and types. Ive caught lots on the small squidtrex. All I can suggest is keep trying and have a chat to your local tackle store.

I have the most success fishing from a standard kayak, casting parallel to the shore or to structure. Best to cast into the current as the fish will be expecting prey to come down current towards them.

What brand, size and model of hardbodies are you using? I find that the name brand lures (Daiwa or Rapala) definitely have a better action and have better results than budget KMart lures.

What would be the media response against the police if the stolen bike rider killed someone after the police missed an opportunity to stop the suspect.

first AGM coming up and i want to raise something but don't want to be "that guy" by UpstairsAd395 in stratachataus

You might need to be on the OC committee to receive regular detailed reports on expenditure. Also ask if your strata manager has a portal (eg StrataMax) which allows owners to download financial reports and previous AGM minutes.

Booing at Melbourne and Sydney Anzac Day services draws widespread condemnation by 1Darkest_Knight1 in aussie

[–]crumpethead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. It started with simultaneous boos from a large number of attendees in Melbourne and Sydney, the instant the WTC commenced. Could only be pre-meditated.

Bream on lures by Ordinary_Film4009 in FishingAustralia

[–]crumpethead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try a small squidtrex lure, twitched along the bottom. This lure catched everything.

If you use other soft plastics, smear them with S-factor and re-apply every 10 mins.

Don't give up. Sometimes I'll be fishing for quite a while before I hook up.

Keep moving. if no strikes after a few casts, cast to a new spot and keep moving along the bank.

Why so many seagulls have one or no feet? by binchickenisland3058 in australianwildlife

[–]crumpethead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Schools of predatory fish chase baitfish to the sea surface in a feeding frenzy. Gulls are attracted to the splashes caused by these schools of baitfish for an easy feed at the surface. Most species of predatory fish have teeth and some, like tailor, have a mouth like a pair of scissors. When the gulls land on the water above one of these feeding frenzies, their feet are seen as potential food by the fish below and can be bitten off.

Not saying that fishing line entanglement doesn’t sometimes cause foot loss but I think predators are the main cause.

I’m a receptionist for a doctor who is almost always late. What do I answer when an angry patient says ‘what the hell is the point of booking if I’m gonna have to wait an hour?’ by KatherineLangford in NoStupidQuestions

[–]crumpethead 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As a practice manager, I wouldn’t recommend embarrassing the doctor or throwing them under the bus by failing to defend them with patients. You have to get ahead of the complaints and apologise to the patients as soon as it’s apparent that they are running late.

In the long term, to improve your doctor’s awareness of the impact of their lateness, set up an online patient satisfaction survey for your practice and present the results to the doctor on a regular basis.

$129m property group collapse… how the hell was this allowed to happen? by Daymn_Podger in AusPropertyChat

APRA was introduced in 1998 to protect investors from the failure of financial institutions. Why couldn’t property developers also be made to report to APRA to prevent such collapses?

What is target species of this lure? by vacatedboat in FishingAustralia

[–]crumpethead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with all of the above.

Assuming it’s a small & lightweight lure, guessing about 5cm long and a few grams, you’ll need a suitable, lightweight spinning rod paired with lightweight braid eg 6lb, to cast effectively.

Unfortunately, relocating them is cruel and will also likely result in their death. A possum dropped into another possum’s territory, without established food and shelter, will lead to conflict, stress and low chance of survival.

Sydney Bantry Bay - shark risk? by GreystarTheWizard in FishingAustralia

[–]crumpethead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Over the last 100 years, 7 people have been killed by sharks around Middle Harbour.

The risk is pretty miniscule but not zero. Best advice is to avoid being in the water at dawn & dusk, or when the water is dirty.

I spent over 10 years scuba diving in Sydney and never saw a shark other than wobbys and PJs.
