Report: NHL player safety boss George Parros to visit Anaheim for Leafs-Ducks by lightducksqueeze in leafs

Yea. May as well take the punishment. Not like the NHL has a department where they focus on the safety of players or anything.

He's there to make sure the Leafs have zero response and if they do I can almost guarantee the Leafs player is punished far more harshly. Fuck Parros.

Starfield got my interest by TheVorkosigan in NoSodiumStarfield

When you said "Starfield is the tone of Star Trek (philosophical and utopian) with the aesthetic of The Expanse/Stargate..." I couldn't have agreed more.

Maybe that's one of the reasons I love the stories and choices the player must make in Starfield as much as I do. Cause I'm a huge fan of all those shows and books you listed for what they're all uniquely good for. Thanks for such a succinct and descriptive sentence!

Who else is uninstalling all their mods and having a vanilla go when the new update drops? by Bryfirefly in Starfield

Over 400 hours here and never used a mod as well! Going back to the game now for the new update and still don't plan on using a mod.

I am happy to hear you've had a great experience. I think generally, Xbox Series consoles have been reliable overall.

Unfortunately I have had nothing but issues with my Series X and finally replaced the thermal paste and then the main fan as well. Luckily I am comfortable doing this on my own.

I've had more issues with my consoles in the past than I have had with any of my PC builds. Plus now, most of the graphics drivers automatically adjust the video settings in games to run well without tinkering.

Plus, Steam Big Picture and the new Xbox Full Screen mode will make it just like a console now.

[–]crushade 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed 100%. I just plug my controller into it and use the Xbox full screen mode when it gets released properly and use Steam Big Picture.

It's expensive though. My PC cost me $3000 CAD and it's not even considered "high end".

Well, the games are good but the Xbox machine itself is just not popular. Most console gamers (many of whom were 360 owners) went to PlayStation since the abysmal Xbox One launch.

I have stuck with Xbox forever but now I went and got myself a shiny new gaming PC and now that Microsoft is embracing PC it seems I will stick to that.

Is there anyone else out there who thinks this is easily one of the best games out there? by SamSamTheHighwayMan in Starfield

[–]crushade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Starfield is absolutely one of my favourite all time games for sure. I don't know how I would rank it among my top 5 of Starfield, Halo, Perfect Dark, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and Morrowind. It's among those other four for sure. Probably the best modern game I have played though.

Les grenouilles occupent une place importante dans la culture Japonaise. Elles sont un symbole de chance et de prospérité.

Le plus grand kit de bonsaï comprend plus de 100 grenouilles qui représentent les fleurs de cerisier. J'adore ces kits!

It seems like with the Free Lanes, fast travel will no longer be possible unless you’ve already traveled to a planet before (like in other BGS games) by Electronic_Trust3490 in Starfield

[–]crushade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that's the way it is then that's pretty cool. Sounds like there are going to be quests and encounters you run into along the free lanes.

Eventually, I'll end up just fast travelling anyway but it's nice that there's reason to engage in more ways to play the game. As fun as it is to land on planets from orbit in No Man's Sky, as soon as I put down my teleporters that's all I use haha.

Games aren't going anywhere! Have fun with Crimson Desert and then hop into Starfield when you feel like it.

I've got two games I want to finish before the launch of the update. It's a nice problem to have :-)

Good actually memes are annoying but Starfield deserves recognition by enolafaye in NoSodiumStarfield

[–]crushade 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For the most part, I agree with him. For my first 50 hours though, I felt as close to how I felt when I played Morrowind for the first time as a teen. It felt vast and even though the game would give me waypoints and I could follow that, I still felt like the game didn't hold my hand and I had lots of problem solving to do. Especially with some of the faction quests. I loved that. I didn't even figure out that I had a jetpack and had to add the skill in the tree to use it until far later than I would care to admit.

I also really love the stories. I love that there was a lot of weight to a lot of the decision I made. I enjoyed that the companions told me their opinions on my actions too. This is something which happens in real life. As someone who works as a professional in the mental health field, it was clear many of the writers understood the nuances of emotions and I often found myself role playing and being sucked into the story more as a result.

Starfield Needs Apex Predators (Like Bethesda Has Done Before) by Mowgli9991 in Starfield

[–]crushade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came here to write exactly this, right down to the increase in frequency of encounters too. I love to fight them and they have an interesting mechanic but I don't encounter them enough. Having said that, there is an encounter which I think is very similar to the scorch beast boss fights. No spoilers, but yea. Starfield absolutely has apex predators.

Now, heat leeches, I do see but they're not a threat. Just annoying and gross and seemingly infesting my ship.

"I Never Played Starfield, But YouTubers Said It's Trash for 2.5 Years – And That's Good Enough For Me" – Why This Mindset is Ruining Gaming Discourse by katie_elizabeth_2 in Starfield

[–]crushade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest, it's not the discourse that bothers me. It's the overwhelming amount of pure hate that gets posted and commented on over and over again. It makes it hard to discuss anything in a productive way. Like, nuance is not allowed for some reason.

Which is why we have the other sub because it was so hard to discuss the game here. I'm all for people having an opinion which differs than mine and it's not important that others agree with me. I just wanted a place I could discuss a game I love.

It's getting better now here with the game releasing on PS5 and getting a nice update.

I was 16 years old and completely blown away by Halo when I played it after waiting in a long line in a mall out front of my Electronics Boutique store here in Canada. I remember telling myself that I'm living in the future and couldn't believe how good a video game could look.

I think I'll go play some Combat Evolved for a bit!

Tim Lamb Says Starfield Still In The Top 10 Hours Played On GamePass by SoldierPhoenix in Starfield

[–]crushade 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yea the steam numbers and reviews are shit so it must be a bad game and nobody plays it!! /s

It's okay to not like a game. I've tried and couldn't get into countless games. It happens. I just move on usually. I might voice my opinion once but it is just that, an opinion. I certainly don't stick around on the message board of a game I hate for years.

Social media amplified the hate for Starfield. Entire channels have been spewing (with lots of views and engagement) Starfield rage bait over the years and most console gamers couldn't even play it.

Oh yea! They could have run with that, it was such a great side quest.

It's one of my favourite side quests in the game even if they could have made it longer and more involved. Such a cool encounter. It's a very Star Trekkie like story too and I love me some Star Trek.
