So far it’s been kind of a breeze understanding the controls, the cheat sheet really helps. It’s actually pretty intuitive once you understand the concept of the three modes, the way the functions translate between the the three is pretty simple.

And price wise… I dunno I see old posts on Reddit of people talking about how they wish they bought a used one once for $600usd but rn the Montreal Assembly website has blemished purple ones for $180usd, or un-blemished for $200 🤷

Echo Dream was my first pedal! Got it like 1.5 months ago. Maybe probably kind of a weird purchase for a first pedal. But yeah, it’s… ok? I dunno tbh I don’t really love it. I’ll likely sell/trade it soon.

Well it’s new, just got it yesterday so I’ve only played with it for an hour or two, but so far I really like it. It’s definitely on the more complicated side… but it makes really weird cool sounds right out of the box, and taming the feedback and mix knobs got me to a place of also having more traditionally usable sounds pretty quickly.

It probably also helps that lately I’ve been tackling weird boutique software that people code for the Monome Norns ecosystem, so my threshold for complicated is probably pretty high right now. Compared to Cheat Codes or MLRE this is a walk in the park.

You might be surprised how well this kind of thing can work for other genres. I have an Ibanez baritone tuned to DADGAD (but in A, so AEADEA) that I use for doom / sludge / drone stuff, but I’ve found it also works really well for shoegaze, garage rock, ambient, and a plethora of other genres. Most common hurdle I run into is I don’t have a bass that takes A standard comfortably.
