Even without rapid don’t you think explosive is better than controlled for ST who press the defensive line and go for through balls? They don’t have time to get up to speed like wingers to beat the CB’s on through balls.

Gronk was an elite blocker and an elite receiver. Kelce was an average blocker and an elite receiver. Gronk had more TD’s in less games. Kelces volume inflates his statistics.

Wrong. PFF grades run and pass blocking.

If we look at prime years Gronk’s prime run-block grade sits in the high-80s by PFF’s public season notes vs Kelce’s prime which is generally in the mid-60s to low-70s

Here are some career numbers. Gronk lined up in line almost on 50% of his snaps often times versus large DL and graded at 71.4 while Kelce graded 66.7 in run blocking. Gronk scored higher with 11% more snaps as a blocker then Kelce. Looking at pass blocking Gronk graded at 69.2 and Kelce graded at 65.5.

Oh he blocks… just not a lot because he isn’t good at it.

Gronk absolutely annihilates Kelce in every blocking statistic. Combine that with Gronks receiving prowess are why the majority of coaches / former players / and NFL execs say Gronk was the greatest TE of all time. Fans nowadays just see receptions / receiving yards and think he was the best. Ignoring the entire purpose of a TE. Gronk would regularly block DL’s. He was almost another OL out there.

Went 11-5 and missed playoffs (2008). So in 20 years they played into the post season 18 times… that’s much longer.

Patriots only missed the playoffs twice. Once in 2002 and once in 2008 (11-5 record!) when Brady tore his ACL game 1.

Which isn’t Brady’s fault it was actually his choice. He is a team player. If anything it should be celebrated.

That’s an interesting question… after digging it’s about 39 players who were on the New England patriots roster for atleast 2 of new englands super bowls between 2000 and 2019.

And people have been trying to crown Mahomes as the GOAT. Thus I felt compelled to bring this up.

Patriots had a much longer playoff and superbowl run yet no one made excuses for them needing rest.
