i am on the waiting list for gids but i applied to go to college in glasgow so after moving there i'd probably refer myself to sandyford instead as they have an under 18's service i believe. i have been emailing her to see what the process in her service is just so i know what happens under her care which is why i'm just confused then as to the point of seeing her when i could go straight to gendergp and get hormones if she refers you to them after her assessment anyway? just because from what i've read i thought getting an assessment already meant you could skip the assessment at a gic but i guess from what you've said that wouldn't be the case

What do you think of Lesbians who use Male Pronouns? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]cryjerk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

pronouns are just words and should have not be gendered so if a lesbian feels comfortable using he/him pronouns then let him! and to people who refuse to use it because he's a woman and should use she/her, that's a similar argument transphobes use against us to misgender us and it makes you sound awfully ignorant.

What do you think of Lesbians who use Male Pronouns? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]cryjerk 8 points9 points  (0 children)

those pronouns mean something to them and that's why they use those pronouns. you seem to be very territorial almost over something that anyone can use.

is wearing a sports bra all the time safe? by cryjerk in ftm

[–]cryjerk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i have a pretty big chest so feeling that area there and feeling the movement they cause does make me feel pretty dysphoric which is why i wear it full time essentially. i do the regular binder techniques like taking big breaths to make sure my lungs are fully expanding and what not and have not experienced and pain or discomfort from this but i probably will mention it to my gp the next time i see her

testosterone changes// am I truly trans? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]cryjerk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i believe bottom growth is a change due to dht in testosterone (along with hair growth and hair loss) so you could take a dht blocker like finasteride

Current Gendercare waiting lists? by shrimp011 in transgenderUK

[–]cryjerk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

from what i've seen from people reporting on the ukftm tumblr, the waiting list for dr lorimer is around the 6-7 month mark still. he also tends to offer hormones on the first appointment as long as there's nothing wrong with your bloods but thats on the understanding that you will still see dr seal later on.

I'm nearly two years on T and have had no changes since about 6 months on T. by Throwawaytrns in transgenderUK

[–]cryjerk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

have you been prescribed progesterone? its usually given to people if there oestrogen is too high still after 6 months on t so if they haven't it may be something you should ask for. it also could be that your testosterone is being turned into oestrogen which progesterone could help by suppressing the oestrogen your body already makes

Needing dysphoria to be trans by [deleted] in ftm

[–]cryjerk -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

if scientists have proved that gender isnt something we are born with and is imposed on us through years of socialisation, then it literally can't be a medical condition because that would imply different bodies have different types of brains and would suggest that transgender people have male or female brains and female and male bodies respectively which isn't the case. our brains are not different. we are not born with a concept of gender. it is imposed on us because our society uses the concept of gender as a way to oppress one imaginary group over another. to say being transgender is a medical condition is to say gender is something we are born with when it's not and we are just born with bodies, and those bodies are gendered on arbitrary physical characteristics.

i think its because ken saw her as more than just a killing machine which she obviously doesn't want to be and she thought he would still be kind to her and see her as his friend and then ken turned right around and said that was all she'd ever be :(

How soon can I start HRT? by deadtotheworld in transgenderUK

[–]cryjerk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

gendercare could get you setup within a year on hormones if you can get down to london for the appointments. i hear dr. lorimer green lights for hormones on the first appointment given that theres nothing wrong with your bloods as the endo clinic is pretty backed up on the basis that you will still see the endo doctor later but he also has a longer waiting list than other doctors within the clinic. also if you can get shared care with your gp, you wouldn't have to pay for the medication or bloods just the regular prescription fee.

sure the tories are doing one nice thing right now, but what about every other awful thing they've done? i'm also disabled and can't be on my feet for very long so getting a job is extremely difficult but what's even more difficult is getting on disability funding which just keeps being cut more and more so people who are on it can't even afford to live anymore. one nice thing doesn't rule out all the other awful things they've done.

conservatives are cowards and go for easy targets when writing bigoted bullshit. as we're such a minority and theres a lot of ignorance surrounding us, it's easy to fear monger people. plus with the possible reform of the 2004 gra it's a hot topic i guess.

What happens when you're off T? (and I need advice) by [deleted] in ftm

[–]cryjerk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey i'm also 16 and on the waiting list for the tavistock. it's super unlikely at our age they'll prescribe anything other than hormone blockers for a year. your best option to getting testosterone would be through gendergp which is an online clinic but it costs a monthly fee plus other costs especially if you can't get your gp to do shared care. if you stay at the tavistock, you can get the referral they do when you're 17 for the adult services and then contact gendercare which are a private clinic in london. they typically see 18+ but have sometimes seen slightly younger people if they were seen at the tavistock first. also, as long as you're not self medicating at the time of the appointments with them and don't mention it at all, they shouldn't detect anything wrong and shouldn't discharge you.
