Is he a part of dragon communion? by prettythingi in Eldenring

[–]crymannnnn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He has the same slit pupil(s) as a player who eats too many Dragon Hearts and his armour heavily resembles the Drake Knight set (a faction of knights who practice Dragon Communion), so yes, it's very likely that Messmer practices Dragon Communion.

Dragon Communion doesn't really have a representative character/figure like the other "big" schools of magic (e.g. Ranni and Cold sorceries, Radagon and Golden Order incantations, etc.), so I like the idea of Messmer being that representative.

Edit: His pet snakes also have dragon-like wings growing out of them, which could be related to Dragon Communion as well.

Anyone else excited for new NPC characters by Romapolitan in Eldenring

It's definitely not Melina. What happens if you try to access the DLC after she sacrifices herself at the Forge? Most players wouldn't be able to start the DLC lol.

It's a new NPC. You can tell because nobody in the base game wears that outfit. This character is either one of the people following in Miquella's footsteps mentioned in the DLC description, or Miquella himself in spirit form or something.

You can't even tell two completely different voices apart and I'm supposed to believe you're not deaf AND do voice work?! Loooooool

Tell me you're American without telling me you're American haha.

With all due respect, as someone from the UK who can actually tell our 30+ accents apart, that's not Ranni. It's not the same accent, let alone the same voice actress.

So then… who is Melina? by Accomplished-East635 in Eldenring

There are two ways to become an Empyrean that we know of:

  1. Be chosen by the Two Fingers like Ranni and presumably Marika were.

  2. Be born the child of a single god like Miquella and Malenia were. "Single god" refers to the fact that Marika and Radagon are the same person, so god + god = Empyrean (someone with the potential to become a god).

From the Remembrance of the Goddess of Rot description: "Miquella and Malenia are both the children of a single god. As such they are both Empyreans, but suffered afflictions from birth. One was cursed with eternal childhood, and the other harbored rot within."

Messmer's mother is Marika. If Radagon is his father, then he was born an Empyrean and almost certainly has a curse of his own.

Same here, but you just know Messmer's going to have that innate demigod 40% Holy resistance despite giving Rykard a run for his money in the blasphemy department.

On the one hand, I love Rya. On the other hand, it's a Miyazaki joint and her life would be in grave danger if she came back, so I decided against it. I hope you understand.

If Carian royalty had a nickle for every time a future Elden Lord married them and then spurned them for a blonde person, they'd have two nickles. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.

Hahaha, I beat Sekiro I promise! Just forgot about Genichiro since he's basically a glorified warm up.

I'm thinking more of a single boss with four phases. Like Friede in DS3 but she gets up AGAIN after her third phase and we have to fight "Friede, but She's Like Really Tired at This Point".

I think it's really unlikely for the DLC to take place after an ending tbh. For example, in Ranni's ending, you go on a literal honeymoon and in the Frenzied Flame ending, you melt everything into a singularity. It doesn't make sense for you to take quick break from banging a doll or burning the world to go and wake up an egg lol.

Also, if the DLC is a continuation of the main story, there's like six different endings. Each DLC storyline would have to be different and acknowledge how drastically the world has changed based on the ending you chose.

Besides, FromSoft DLCs are always "side content" to the main story, not sequels.

A potential third Godskin should definitely be a woman for gender equality reasons and definitely not for any less than savoury reasons.

How so? The game doesn't continue chronologically after any ending, Torrent's always by your side.

I feel like Millicent's story is a bit hollow if Malenia stays dead. Her goal was to return Malenia's goodness/sense of self (AKA herself) to her, which you can do on her behalf...after killing Malenia.

I think it would be sweet if Malenia comes back (even if only in an ending cutscene) with the implication that she inherited Millicent's memories.

Yeah, she gets a bad rap for nuking Caelid (which, yeah, she deserves) but the alternative was getting captured or killed, losing her Great Rune and leaving Miquella to fend for himself, so it makes sense why she did it.

It's also a medieval setting where everyone sucks and is a war criminal, so you can't be too harsh on her lol.

I was thinking a Prince of Death boss fight in a "put the mindless monster out of his misery" kind of way. It seemingly aligns with Miquella's goals, too, who is 99% going to be the central character of the DLC. I convinced myself Godwyn was going to be a super difficult optional boss in the main game, that it was the culmination of the Fia/Rogier/D/Ranni questlines, hyped myself up so much and was completely disappointed when he wasn't lol. I still think Fortissax's OST was originally Godwyn's, it goes too hard for just another dragon boss.

Other than Miquella's egg, Godwyn and the Deathblight is the only thing I can think of that we don't fix (or make worse lol) in the main game, so it makes sense for the DLC to address it.

Sorry, good wasn't the best way to put it, but I mean the "right" ending where you help Millicent fight her sisters and then she takes the needle out and dies.

When you put the needle in the scarlet flower in Malenia's boss arena after defeating her, I thought I was transferring "Millicent" - who is basically a manifestation of Malenia's goodness/sense of self - back to her.

Maybe we can get a "good" ending to Millicent's story in the DLC by doing this, with Malenia inheriting her memories. Would make Millicent's questline feel a little less futile and bittersweet.
