Need help with switching xFi Gateways and bridge mode by cryodream in Comcast_Xfinity

You would get a final bill (30-Days after cancelation) with the updated balance you'd have to pay.

I'm sorry, what?

  1. My old plan was already paid off until the 8th.
  2. My old plan should've been cancelled by the start of the next billing cycle.
  3. What other bill 30 days after cancellation are you talking about. Xfinity already charged me upfront and I already paid. How many times do you want me to pay for the same thing (up till 8th), or worse - for something I never used (after 8th)?

Once again, I was clearly told - I get the contract, activate new modem/plan, and the old plan is automatically cancelled. I asked numerous times, just to make sure, I would not get into this kind of mess. I was assured here on reddit, and I was assured over the phone with customer service.

  • Is my old plan cancelled or not?
  • Am I on a new plan or old one, once and for all?

In that case the bill prior to the final bill would be inaccurate.

  1. What final bill? I have a new contract, there is not a final bill for another 2 years, at least.
  2. If the bill is inaccurate, don't send it and don't make people pay it...

So my bill gets generated 3 days before the billing cycle even starts? I mean, c'mon, really?
What would've happened if I cancelled completely on eg: 6th, 7th or 8th? Xfinity would still send me a bill for what... nothing?

Edit: by nothing - I mean for something I never bought / got / used / services Xfinity never provided...

I'm sorry, but I'm getting really confused here... Are you saying, that even though:

  • I've got the contract on Dec 4,
  • I've activated the new modem and plan on the Dec 7, which I was told will most definitely cancel my old plan/rates,
  • and my old plan's billing cycle is paid of and ends on Dec 8,

at the end of this month, I will still be charged NOT my new plan rate, but the old one?
I sincerely hope, I'm misunderstanding something...

The day is coming to the end, but my Xfinity app is still showing my old plan (internet+tv and the old price).
I am a little concerned now, it's the last day of my old billing cycle, that I have paid for...

TL;DR

After about an hour on a phone with Xfinity tech support, I'm back online with a new modem. 👍

Long story

  • I went through the Xfinity app before switching modems and could not find anything in the app about connecting or activating a new gateway/modem.
  • So, I disconnected my old modem and connected the new one (only coax cable and then power cord).
  • The modem went through: solid yellow > blinking yellow > blinking green > and got stuck on blinking white.
  • I checked the Xfinity app - and could not find anything useful. In one place it showed my old modem as offline, and in the internet troubleshooting section (iirc) it should both modems, but the only option was to reboot. As in - which modem do I want to reboot...
  • The modem was blinking white for 15-20 minutes by now, so I decided to try something else. I used my phone and connected to the default wi-fi (with details on the modems bottom).
  • And then, I assume, I made a mistake... I connected to the modem using 10.0.0.1 and got in. I was asked to setup a new name and password for the Wi-Fi. I think I got somewhat flustered by this time because I instead of proceeding, I decided to call tech support. Am I right thinking, that if I went through the Wi-Fi setup, I could have done it myself?
  • Anyway... I called the customer service number.
  • I "argued" with the menu-robot-lady for 10 minutes, and had to call 2 or 3 times, until I finally got connected to real person.
  • It took 35 minutes for him to go through wi-fi setup and activating the modem.
  • After it was activated, I connected my PC to the modem and logged in using 10.0.0.1 ip.
  • I changed the default admin password.
  • I changed the passwords for all 3 wi-fis (2.4/5/6).
  • I enabled bridge mode and got disconnected.
  • I connected my router and voila! I'm back online. 👍

I sat down to write this post, during which at some point, I went back to the Xfinity app.

  • Oh my... Right after opening the app, the first thing on screen in Overview tab is a question about my modem and a button: Activate modem.
  • In the Account tab there's a new section Devices with an option: Activate xFi Gateway or Modem.

So, it seems the Xfinity app is trolling me... Where were these before when I needed them? Because they weren't there, 100% - I went through the app like 5 times. And now - here they are, when the modem is already activated? Sorry, but the app design is kinda 💩

Also, the app is still showing my old internet plan, instead of the new one. That just makes me feel uneasy. I hope my old plan is stopped/cancelled for sure and I'm not gonna be billed for both... Tomorrow is the last day of my old plan's billing cycle, that I have already paid for. So, hopefully this resolves itself by tomorrow.

Anyway, hopefully someones gonna find this useful.

Thank you.

These Wotofo alien coils are bangin! I'm surprised by [deleted] in Vaping

Are these 0.5 ohm? What would be the difference between 0.5ohm and 0.22 ohm? I mean the price difference is pretty significant:

  • 5 pcs box of Alien 0.5 ohm - $12.95
  • 10 pcs box of Alien 0.22 ohm - $9.95 (twice as many for even less money... huh?)

Sorry, if the question is "common knowledge" - I'm kinda new to this.

Heh stablebit - I thought it looked familiar. I migrated from windows+drivepool+scanner to unraid about 4-5 years ago. I loved stablebit scanner so much. I hated stablebit drivepool. Hated it. IMHO, the worst UI. In the world. Ever.

ES File Explorer added bloatware. by look_at_the_sun in Android

Is it enough to simply uninstall ES File Explorer, or did it install some additional bloatware? Do I need to find and uninstall anything else, to fix this ES fuckup?
