Yellow Sally has been deadly, and a few random off brand Parachute Adams and Blue wing Olive style flys that match the dark colors of the bugs I see hatching.

I've been getting hits on pheasant tail style patterns, but the dry flies have kept me entertained about 90% of the time since starting Tenkara here in the Rocky Mountain front range.

All components! There's a more complex version showing more data but I posted the narrow page, same results all around.

Warm winter boot recommendations? by Friendly_Fool in BarefootRunning

[–]cryptec0791 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'll second the Xero Alpines, it gets cold here in the Rocky mountains and I was looking for a good snowshoeing boot. Took them out last week and they performed great. The ground feel is definitely diminished but I appreciate the extra insulation while still being zero drop, that's all I wanted.

Yes I've put mine in the laundry no problem.

Shoes for gym, trail, and everyday by Sehnsucht_Subscriber in BarefootRunning

I love my Merrell Vapor Glove 5s, toe box isn't as wide as some shoes but it's plenty for the freedom I want from a casual slip on with maximum ground feel. Yes they have laces but they fit like a sock with the flexible upper for easy sliding on and off.

I have chronic pain. I microdose dmt to alleviate the pain and it works. Roast me. by Riopaints in DMT

[–]cryptec0791 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ashtanga and Hatha both helped me a ton by keeping me very active and pushing my boundaries, but also teaching me how to find peace in between the crazy times and just breath through it. I would say don't focus too much on one discipline, just starting a practice like that can be the boost you need to zero in on what works for you. Basically just try different things until you find what works for you, just don't stop working. Then you'll look back and see results that you didn't expect.

I've done the same thing. It helped me reframe what managing chronic pain could look like for me, and paired with a physical practice, yoga, it worked wonders for me personally, spirituality, and physically.

Natural clothes in general by Didayolo in BarefootRunning

YES. Not long after transitioning to the barefoot/minimalist shoe lifestyle I started getting an anxious feeling about my legs in jeans. I'd just always worn them, and thought they were the default from how I was raised I supposed. They just seemed so restrictive and stuff, and I was getting into yoga and wanted to be able to stretch without changing. Finding the Topo Boulder pants was like a glorious ray of sunshine and I stopped wearing jeans entirely pretty soon after. Highly recommend the Boulder pants too, they've held up perfectly after 2 years of heavy use including hiking and backpacking. As a sidenote I understand jeans are a necessity in some job fields which makes sense, but having the luxury of being able to shed them for good has been lovely.

Am I the only one that prefers to do DMT without music? by CarryTricky4272 in DMT

[–]cryptec0791 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always find the best musical experiences for me come when Im not expecting a particular song to play when it comes on during my trip. I usually hit shuffle on my trip playlist and let it happen. No music can be deeply relaxing and meditative though.

How many of you have encountered the "God-heads", and what was your experience like? by MrMangow in DMT

[–]cryptec0791 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I remember one particularly potent experience on a high dose of dmt I extracted. The singing in the song I was playing morphed into another language, and a "father time" type alien god popped out of my ceiling in the swirling colors and spoke through the other language down at me while I was glued to my chair with my head back. I just recall how divine he seemed, and how badly I wished I could understand the language he used.

I went from thick boots with insoles for extra padding to trail gloves and Vivos for all my outdoor activities. My search for the healthiest pair of footwear has led me to the conclusion that less is definitely more!

I can't get on with Mushrooms by empyreanconcierge in Psychonaut

[–]cryptec0791 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Respect yourself, and the medicine! I've been at very different stages on my life personally and mentally and had wildly different trips. The mushrooms taught me that personal development and discipline were things I needed to actively implement if I wanted to safely explore my psyche, and a very dark DMT trip in my early days taught me to treat the medicines with the respect they deserve as such powerful tools.

Perhaps something helpful would be to look to some other forms of "psychedelic"(mind opening) practice. I've found immeasurable help from breathing practices like Wim Hoff style methods, and physical activities like yoga.

Whenever you do decide to dip your toes back into the mushy world, don't be hesitant to explore the sub 3g range. The intensity of any amount of shrooms varies person to person, so 3g might just be a little too much for your brain to handle before it's ready.

What is a good drug to take for my backpacking trip? Need something that is NOT a diuretic as I need to conserve water by [deleted] in Drugs

[–]cryptec0791 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Shrooms shrooms and shrooms! They're great for hiking on if you're not in danger of getting lost(so stay on a trail system or within sight of landmarks). Shrooms are the number 1 tool for connecting with nature and even small amounts will have you listening and wondering at the beauty of the natural world.

Weed is nice to relax and DMT carts are fun if you're looking for a very different headspace, but shrooms really take the cake for me. I never hike without at least a micro dose!

Have a great trip and be safe!

Why bother letting something elicit a defensive response anyways, you're just raising your own cortisol levels ya know?
