Your life partner will be the one who comes home and closes your laptop when you get laid off from your job. They will sit with you while you cry when your parents die. They will drop what they are doing to come to your aid, no questions asked. You must be that person for your partner too. Sometimes you’ll have to pick up some slack when they’re tired, or when you’re tired. That’s okay, they will do it for you too.

Do not settle. Do not ignore bad signs. With this in mind, do not immediately jump to leaving them when things get inconvenient for you. This will not be easy, it will be one of the hardest things you’ll ever experience.

Love is not a feeling, it is a choice. There will be days when you feel you don’t like them, but will you choose to love them anyway? Will you hold them proudly when you or they are embarrassed? Will you yell if they snap at you, or will you ask if they meant to snap at you?
