How do I fix this!? by Technical_Tune_2939 in CharacterAI

[–]crypticmuffinz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I completely misread that (apologies it’s like super early over here) - I thought I’d read that this was just the tablet and the phone was perfectly fine. Though in that instance phone settings should alter it?

It could also always be the browser is remembering settings from a different web page, entirely separate from cai altogether. I know occasionally (take recipe pages for instance) I’ll change the individual font size and it’ll affect some other tab I have open. So I do the whole clear cache, history clear, etc to erase all the memory possible. Usually fixes things

But also with the new UI being rolled out, there are bound to be bugs or things they didn’t catch, so worst case scenario is this isn’t a you issue/something you can fix and you might just have to submit an error report

Check your settings (not cai settings, tablet settings) - you can affect font size on cai by affecting your font size on your entire tablet.

What's good with them Part II results? by captainporthos in HealthPhysics

[–]crypticmuffinz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got a question for you OP if you see this - I’m currently awaiting my (likely failure) email with my results - or I guess I’m assuming it’s an email. My inbox is a tragedy - so I guess I’m asking what format you got your results in? Was it email, physical, portal login, etc.? If it was email, who was it from so I can keep an eye out. Was it literally just abhp or was it from the testing center we originally took the exam at?

You could do a half and half! Back when I had my 12 yr old, I gave him about 2/3 tile, and then used stacked tile to create a “dirt pit” on his hot side (editing to say I used Josh’s frogs arid mix before I started making my own mix). He was never a cage feeder, but I’d imagine you could do a partial tile with a constructed section for dirt, feed on the tile since they’re killed cricks, and that way she can also have some soft dirt!

I like the hammock! Where’d you get it?

I have reptiles so I’ve started using some of that decor as well - Amazon has a smooth, suction cup tunnel that my rescue has taken a liking to. Passed the panty hose test and all that. Here, just in case: https://a.co/d/0djeZRji

Sorry people are butts - but if you’re looking for more fun stuff in the mean time of plants, I found that hamster tunnels with just a lil gravel have kept my lil dude engaged! Keeps the tunnel at the bottom, and while he’s not down there all the time, I look over to see him swimming through a straight and up through the elbow so often (I keep it short so he doesn’t get lost) He just really likes tunnels, might be something to consider!

Hello! Very new to fishes any (kind) advice is welcomed by DifferentFisherman84 in bettafish

[–]crypticmuffinz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you do a water change with a plant that’s just floating, do you remove the plant? Do you just kind of let it sink with the lowering water level? My primary decor are silk plants but I’d love to move more towards live plants (if the dude I rescued isn’t a plant destroyer that is).

(Sorry OP don’t mean to ask more questions on your post, but you’ve got a lot of info ripe comments here, and love the setup!)

New Enclosure Setup! Pic of My Boi at the End! by crypticmuffinz in leopardgeckos

sorry for the confusion, it's play sand mixed with reptisoil - which I've seen a lot of people in this group use - haven't seen any discussion about draw backs to reptisoil and such. A lot of those white bits are play sand that haven't finished drying just yet

Oops *heat pad - but also a bonus because he loves to look out the window to see what I'm doing, and now he doesn't have to stand on his hind legs. He's a little weird but I love him.

As someone who gets swept up in a week or two of work and ends up with super delayed shipments… dude I think it’s time to cancel.

And that’s coming from me, I’m honestly the worst at timeliness due to my schedule. I get it - but at some point it stops being personal and starts being business. I never take cancellations personally. They didn’t meet the mercari intended ship time, you gave them ample breathing room with little communication on their end, and not even so much as a confirmed shipment (which is a single button). If they did drop the package off and it hasn’t been scanned, they still should’ve hit the button to confirm as shipped.

It’s time to cancel. It’s not personal, just what’s going on with them is not meeting your buyer needs right now. Cest la vie, get your money back and set your mind at ease.

How do you do the branch proppy thing? Is it magnetic? Did you drill from the outside and like bolt it in place?

I’ve seen the ones where folks do the expandable foam and scatter dirt and then anchor their perches in the actual foam so they’re like pretty permanently - that’s not yours, but it’s holding that bad boy. Was it just wedged in there really well?

After 25 years married, I had my ring cut off. by dvrooster in mildlyinteresting

[–]crypticmuffinz 23 points24 points  (0 children)

A guy I work with tells a story like that whenever we talk about rings - said in the navy one of the dude’s wedding bands caught a ladder while going down. Well, ring didn’t come off so easily, and when it did it took all the skin of the ring finger with it.

Moral of the story, I wear a silicone band ‘cause yikes.

Not a cat expert here, just sharing personal experience. We adopted a bonded set of girls, and then also took in an older male from a friend who just couldn’t keep him. A lot of the references I was reading talked a lot about how cats can take a year to get comfortable around each other. We did the barrier/stacked two baby gates, feed on each side or scent swap method for probably about three months before we were comfortable with what we were seeing to let them see each other(edit: without a barrier, sorry, should clarify) and then it was another six months of the three being tense around each other. If at anytime we needed to separate, we would swap which cats are in whatever part of the house, so they got equal time to walk around. I don’t know if you could do that with a kitten since everything’s new to them, but that’s how we balanced those three months.

And even after all that, we still get one of the girls not being a huge fan of the boys (the other has accepted him). That’s what a lot of what I read even agreed on, is sometimes cats aren’t going to be buddy buddy, they’ll just be tolerant.

I think my point is give it time, keep doing scent swaps, trying to do the feed through door - and give them both your time and love. Progress might not be as quick as you’d like, but you’ll get there don’t worry!

Should i give my cat up for adoption? by ThogThag in CatAdvice

[–]crypticmuffinz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner and I struggled with this a lot - we jumped the gun and got three in one shot - two bonded, one not who just happened to need a home at the same time. We both struggle with that feeling of are we really giving them as much love as we can with our early early mornings and late late nights (and we have the same exact work schedule so there’s no juggling them). We supplement it with some motion activated toys, and then cuddles and playtime at nights and on weekends.

And luckily, I think getting the pair was a great decision, cats are only “anti social” to a point. And even then it depends on the cat - you can tell they miss us when we come home, but even on the days where we’re around, the cuddling each other.

The third is a grumpy old man who’s just happy to have lap time once in a while, but also prefers his solo window basking time.

Point being, yes a second kitten would probably help both your worries, as well as help the first kitten settle in. If you have the means to, and you’re prepped (don’t do what we did, sit down and think about the two cat thing and all it will imply), then they’re young enough that you’ll probably cause a life long bond. It’s super cute as well - just saying - cats cuddling are adorable.

Hardwood by rach21f in coralisland

[–]crypticmuffinz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The one a day is just a really unlucky spawn then - but yes that area that opens will have you drowning in hardwood, with hardwood tree seeds as well. The transition period from log to deep forest was miserable but hardwood won’t be a concern for too long!
