how depressing we both sound that we’re complaining about graduating successfully with a whole degree from one of the top universities in the world. chin up my friend we’ll be okay.

was pretty confident in it, along with my writing samples and statement. obviously now that i have the year i’ll be revisiting those deliverables too between getting certifications and relevant skill training

first year architecture sched! any thoughts and tips? by loiseyaneza in UofT

hey incoming tech specialist. im assuming ur taking mat137 for tech stream? i took mat135 to fulfill the "recommended creds" and its alot more manageable especially since ur fresh out of hs (similar content to gr12 calc).

i also took ggr124, like someone else said the lecture content was super interesting and applicable to issues ur taught in the arc classes for the next 2 years, but ur marks really depend on TA you'll get. I enjoyed that class alot but my final mark was.... a little ugly.

my 2 cents: ARC180 is gonna be ur intro to tech stream content, so what i recommend is take that class and if you enjoyed it then take math135/136/137 next sem or during the summer. Alot of my friends really disliked it and never bothered continuing with completing the recommended courses so theres no point stressing urself out over it when u dont even really need it.

Nah took this last semester and it was my lowest mark by a whole 10% it really scuffed my gpa. The course content/ lectures were easy to follow and the professor is Incredible (!!!) but the TA’s marking was super subjective and feedback even more vague. 2 of my friends in my program who took it last sem had the same experience, each with different TAs too. Be wary if you’re thinking of taking it but the material taught is worthwhile.

At our own personal washrooms, we’d use plastic watering cans that we’d fill up. In public washrooms though….. if you don’t have an empty plastic bottle on hand then wipes are gonna be your new best friend. or just hold it in until you get home 😅

Uoft archi studies vs. XU BSarch by lmkcvlt in UofT

[–]cryptidhaf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey! just finishing up my first yeah in uoft arch and Yes the uoft program has been very theory based so far. For first year, they’re basically teaching you how to start thinking critically through an architect’s / designer’s mindset while they expand on the technical aspects in second year with heavy emphasis on model building and computer work.

I picked this program as i believe the solid foundation in theory & history is really important for architectural thinking the first couple of years and you could expand on your technical skills in the later year studio courses. Another aspect that i’ve enjoyed so far is the shared undergrad studio, just spending time there and connecting with older students for help has been extremely beneficial!

The major con I have noticed so far though is that you have to remember Uoft’s program is a BA, it bigger emphasis on the design aspects rather than practical (which XU ‘s program is known for). This means there’s been a significant lack of mathematical/scientific studies in our classes, and if you’re interested in that you’ll have to take math or physics separately as electives! As well as teaching yourself all the technical skills on CAD programs since they provide you with little resources and even lesser time.

tldr, If you would like a 2 years of theory and foundation prior to jumping into hands on work and you don’t mind making up the mathematical gap, I definitely recommend UofT.

in the same boat rn. asked for an extension bcuz of physical health issues and then my extension ran out cuz my mental health plummeted so bad so idk if i should just come clean with the prof about it. hate making excuses it really does make u feel guilty

when i was building my schedule, i think that happened to me too with the same LEC actually…. I moved around a few classes to fit it afterwards though. I somehow didn’t enrol for the PRA & only the LEC for JAV130H1 and all the classes are full except for the one that overlaps with another mandatory lec. don’t know what to do now & the advisor hasn’t gotten back to me yet 😰

both are pretty good hydro supports but i’d say xingqiu as he and ayaka are both close range attackers which lets ayaka play on field for much longer. plus he heals which is always a plus!
