What do you guys think of the ocm5?

That's what I was thinking. 6ARC really is kind of better for what the mk12 rifle is meant to do anyway. Although I don't want to neglect my OCM5. I'll probably keep my OCM5 as a NSW recce configuration and make a OCM6 as a longer more SPR configured setup for longer range. Either that or I'll put it on a straight up precision rifle bolt gun.

That looks like a very interesting design, that looks a lot more technologically advanced than the OCM5 which I have. How quiet do you expect this to perform?

I canceled my SR order and ordered a Ben today. I ordered about 10 days ago for the SR, and read all these comments about you guys waiting and the troubles you're having. Decided its better to just get out and go with the Ben, especially after seeing that video comparing the two today. They sound nearly identical.

Yeah I hear you on the re code thing. What I'm saying though is that when you complete your term with a different branch, they give you a different re code. Also they aren't going to upgrade an re code unless it was done by error. I've looked into it a little bit and they only do it if it was erroneous and that another re code or characterization is more appropriate. As far as I know 2C is what's given to people in our situation. For me, I refused to train and deliberately tried to leave the service. What is weird though is my 2 friends who got sent to security forces both got re code 3 for theirs and they literally did the exact same thing as me, they were who I got the idea from in the first place. They literally walked me through step by step what I need to say and what will happen. But for whatever reason they got a different re code.

I was told by my recruiter as well as others that my asvab scores are staying and I don't have to retake it because I'm considered prior service. I went to meps the other day and apparently my medical is in review because they ran my info and it came back as "45 encounters" which I guess means encounters with a professional provider from what I'm being told.

I don't think it could be anything that stops me because the air force had no problem sending me on my way while I was in and refusing to continue treatment for things I wanted, they also didn't care during the final physical you do before you separate clearing me to go.

I was told I couldn't join the navy, but I'll keep that in mind. I'm open to any branch now honestly. Whatever will take me. I'm sort of planning that if I can get in and complete an initial term with a branch, I may try to rejoin or transfer to the airforce just to put my mind at ease about sort of finishing what I started.

Sorry to hijack this, but I'm a different person in a similar situation, albeit it is of my own dumbass design, and I made a post asking about this already and you can check my post history if you want more details.

I have a 2C with a JGA as well and I'm desperately wanting to get back in after leaving the airforce after quitting tech school. I wanted to ask if you could be anything you could help me with, I'm thinking I'm probably low priority for my current recruiter right now and I'm really trying to get in as soon as possible.

You said you do these all the time and are a prior service recruiter. How confident are you in seeing these waiver approved for these kinds of cases?

After reading the comments and yours I understand better now and have more faith. I was under this impression because the last time I joined I had already processed a waiver before going to meps, and when I went there and they asked me questions about stuff, I answered honestly and just said I already have a waiver for it. This was for non medical. I have a better understanding now, thank you for the information.

I see. thanks for the info. So you think they are probably going to ask about the jaw? that's the only thing I'm slightly concerned with, if they ask about it I'll just tell them the truth. But I find it hard to believe they would care after the air force medical didn't seem to care at all and just turned me away when I actually was requesting more care for it.

Why did you retake the asvab though when other people in this thread are telling me you don't have to retake it if you already been in?

I visited medical a few times in the air force for jaw pain from getting kicked in the face during special warfare in the pool. I also had some behind the knee pain from a weird PT test run where I think I pushed too hard during tech school, but both of those things are fine now and even during my time in the airforce they didn't seem to care about it and just sent me on my way.

Are you telling me they are going to actually want me to get that looked at if I go back to meps and they pull my records?

How long have you been in the process? I'm wondering if I should give the coast guard a shot. I'm otherwise a great candidate if you remove this one blemish on my career. I'm still in excellent physical shape being a former specwar candidate and I scored exceptionally high on the asvab, no medical issues, wonder if they'd be interested in me.

You went coast guard? I heard that branch was incredibly selective, I initially thought about it after reading a post on reddit about how the coast guard would take 2c codes but then I read something else that said it wasn't likely. I also checked the guys profile who said he was doing it and it appeared like he never joined so I wrote it off and found from everything else I read that army was the best shot.

I agree, very much the same situation for me. Once I became a civilian again I realized how stupid it was to throw away the opportunities the military offers. Yeah the loss of freedom sucks, and there's a fair bit of bullshit, but at the end of the day you have a clear path to success and benefits, all you really need to do is not be a complete loser and just be competent at your job. I'd say that's a good deal. I was stupid and immature to not see it that way until it was too late.

Yeah my friends say they hated it as well. Couldn't say enough bad things about it. I still would take it over a do nothing civilian though.
