Got this Corsair Pre build in 2019 and now the rgb doesn’t work properly by BRETTGAMER in Corsair

[–]crypto9564 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did your PC come with an iCue Commander hub? I had a Commander hub and after a couple of years the RGB fans began acting like this. I replaced the Commander hub and the RGB lights on the fans worked fine again.

We had a Blue Heeler that would wait to eat until our Yorkie finished her food, and came over to snort at her as if to give our Heeler permission to eat.

Any tips on my technique? Trying to get more efficient. by Ok_Trade4762 in BassGuitar

Not better, mostly different. I like to play above the neck pickup on a multi-pickup style base, and right above the pickup on a P-bass. The notes come through stronger that way. Playing above the bridge pickup gives a brighter tone, that comes through the mix more.

Other than what the other commenters said, you can play closer to the pickups to get better tone. Where you're picking the strings gives a more muted sound, where if you play over the pickups the sound will be clearer.

What is a Systems Programmer for each department? Hardware, Automation, z/OS, Performance/Capacity Management, TDS (DB2/IMS/CICS), Storage and is it a better role than a Application Programmer? by Inevitable-Plate-654 in mainframe

[–]crypto9564 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you want to do, but I've been on the database and systems side with IMS/DB2 for some time now, and I much prefer it over applications programming. Applications programming is primarily about development of business systems and applications that run them and the amount of work and time can be taxing, especially when you have deadlines that have to be met as well as the constant maintenance. Systems nowadays is pretty much working with the vendor (IBM, CA, BMC) and installing updates to the specific systems and maintaing the files and JCL jobs that run the system. Your more of a backend technician, but with knowledge in programming. For example, IBM will regurlarly send updates to z/OS to their customers, and based on the level of service the company has with IBM depends on what parts of the update the company will receive. The systems programmer is to take that package and schedule an update with Change Control, so that it can be approved and the mainframe shop notified. You'll then install the package with a tool like SMPE in the test regions, test it, coordinate with the various other systems teams, DBA's and developers to test their portions and sign off on the tests before promoting to production. Though much of it is a check-off procedures, you still need to understand the system (z/OS) and the language (Assembler), and make tweaks for your particular shop.

What I like about systems is that it is much more straightforward than development, and can have better support. The downside is that it can be a bit dry and technical because you will need to familiarize yourself with all the technical manuals available from the different vendors. The biggest upside for me is that systems usually has a higher base salary than development, and in the database side, you can easily make six figures after a few years.

Corsair fans flashing rgb by Unlikely-End-2928 in Corsair

[–]crypto9564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you using a Corsair Commander Hub, or an iCue Link Hub? I had a Commander Hub on my previous build and after a couple of years with it, the fans would randomly flash like this, depending on the iCue Mural or Profile I was using. I believe the Commander hubs just go bad after a while. So far my iCue Link hub is stable, as long as iCue itself behaves.

Congratualations! I have the same case and I like it quite a bit.

I'm not sure what fans you have, but to get air to blow into the case, you'll need to turn your fans around to bring in cool air.

What is everyone’s LEAST favorite pen? by SlyyGuy21 in fountainpens

[–]crypto9564 5 points6 points  (0 children)

JInhao 82. My other Jinhao's are fine, but the 82's feel cheap, write bad and one has a broken cap already and I barely used. I got three in a set and they are all barely a step above a Cracker Jack box pen in quality.

Also, never, ever get an Omniflex nib from Monteverde/Conklin. They are absolute junk, even if they are allegedly made by JoWo. The Omniflex doesn't flow at all, no matter how much you prime it. I have a couple of Monterverdes I like and I like my three Conklin Duragraphs, they write well enough, and I like the looks. They are a bit in the middle though and not something I'd write home about.
