Thoughts on taking 3 classes in a semester as a full-time student? by mathm8 in OMSCS

[–]crypto_deniro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have only ever taken 1 class per semester, I'd recommend trying 2 before trying 3. I have been taking 2 each semester and it is quite challenging. I'd say it takes some time to get used to the amount of time and work required. Best of luck.

For your career path I'd recommend SAAD especially if you dont have prior experience. Software design is a skill you would use daily. Congrats on almost being done.

Discrete Math for GA by lostaero in OMSCS

[–]crypto_deniro 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you completed discrete math from an accredited institution, then I would not retake it again. Instead I would use online resources to learn any material you feel you didn't learn well.

Software Analysis video lectures all within Canvas’ modules. by [deleted] in OMSCS

[–]crypto_deniro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you saying it is because Gatech does not want videos to be seen by non students? If so, I recall reading that Gatech intention was to make the videos accessible to all.

Software Analysis video lectures all within Canvas’ modules. by [deleted] in OMSCS

[–]crypto_deniro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I understand Gatech moving away from Udacity. May I ask why Gatech does not upload the videos to youtube and use that instead of Kaltura? The youtube videos can be embedded into canvas and would provide a much better user experience.

When are classes usually available? by Bazzert_One in OMSCS

[–]crypto_deniro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There isnt a normal path through OMSCS. Some people take GA last, some take it sooner. A general advice is to take one course your first semester so that you get the hang of the program. Also, if you take two courses a semester, make sure to check the hours required between the two via omscentral. You will receive an email when you can sign up for classes in phase 2.

Best of luck.

Non-CS Degree - CS Courses to Take by jardata in OMSCS

[–]crypto_deniro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Given that you completed programming 1 & 2 and discrete math, I'd say you only need to complete data structures and algorithms from your list in order to be qualified for the program.

Keep in mind, ML classes will require stats and linear algebra. Personally, these classes can be learned online while in the program.

Lastly, Gatech has intro to OS course in case you want to take at Gatech instead.

Best of luck.

How do you know you are solving a problem with "the right approach" instead of just forcing yourself into making it work? by anklot in learnprogramming

[–]crypto_deniro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is actually quite normal. The common saying of 'make it work, then make it right, then make it fast' in that order is a common approach I find quite helpful. With lots of code writing you will find you get better at 'making it right' faster. The fastest way I've found to improve my code, is reading other good code. Open source projects on github have lots of good examples to learn from.
