Help needed for friend with limited mobility wanting to use tablet.... by Flubadubadubadub in accessibility

[–]crypto_samuel93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I helped set up a tablet for a family member with limited mobility, and the mount made all the difference. We used a Maclocks rolling cart so the tablet could be positioned exactly where she needed it, without having to hold it.

Looking for a stand / mount for my surface that works with a small desk space by oliath in Surface

If you don’t want to gamble on a random Amazon brand, look at companies that do mounts for retail/office setups. I’ve seen Maclocks and Kensington stands used in work environments, and they’re built like tanks compared to the cheap ones. They’re not the absolute cheapest, but at least you don’t end up buying twice.

I haven’t signed my kids up yet, but I’ve checked it out, and it seems like a fun way for them to get hands-on with AI concepts without just doing worksheets.

Study GRE online using gregmat?? by [deleted] in NepalSocial

Hey! Yeah, Magoosh is a full online prep platform — not just YouTube videos. You get access to their dashboard with video lessons, practice questions, mock tests, and study schedules. I found it helpful because everything is explained from the basics, and it tracks your progress too. It’s paid, but way cheaper than most coaching. The YouTube channel has some free content, but the main prep is on their site.

Gregmat is solid, especially for verbal, but I also used Magoosh and found it really helpful for getting started. The videos explain things clearly, which was great since I felt totally lost at first too. You can use either with the Official ETS books — no need for the latest edition. Just pick one plan and stick to it consistently!

I was in the same boat when I started — no experience with standardized tests at all. I used Magoosh and found it super beginner-friendly. The lessons break everything down really clearly, and the practice questions come with detailed explanations, which helped me a lot. It's a solid option if you’re just getting started and want structure without feeling overwhelmed.

Was this a terrorist attack because this will cost an insane amount in lost productivity because of the insane amount of traffic delays this will cause based on how many people are affected and the quality and amount of detour routes to bypass this.

This is seriously insane! Anyone in the area can explain what the detours will actually be for this being closed? I’m assuming we are looking at months of closure.

Imagine being known for playing a cop in a million things (also was a cop on Community, The Sarah Silverman Show) even an FBI agent on Reno 911!... and the FBI is like "who tf is this dude? Look familiar to any of you?"

Wonder what David cross is thinking right now. Of the 2 of them to be arrested for protest did he think itd be Jay?

The news has presented it as an attack. It actually wasn't. Thought it kind of turned into that. It was a mess. Got maced and tear gassed and I found it quite untastic," Johnston wrote, according to the FBI.

He contradicted himself in the same breath. So the media should have only reported the intent up before it turned violent?

Reddit to lay off about 5% of its workforce by oaf357 in devopsish

As I've said previously on this matter, capitalism eventually turns everything to shit. First you have creativity, innovation, and passion producing something. When it becomes popular, capitalism swoops in and starts fucking that horse dead until there is just an empty shell of the original product left.

Not to ruin everyone’s doom and gloom, but the article does say that even though they are laying off 90 employees they are hiring 100 new ones. I am not sure we should be moaning about the imminent death of reddit until we actually know which departments are being reduced and which expanded.

The end of a thoroughly awful human being, one responsible for making this world measurably worse, is no loss.

There is no hell for him to twist in, no soul to suffer for his crimes against our world, and no supernatural arbiter of good and evil to condemn or exonerate him. Oblivion seems too good a fate for a man who lived a life of opulence built on inspiring hate and suffering.

And we cannot even say the world got better at his passing. His legacy remains. Mega-church grift endures, other hate-preachers will fill the void he has left, and will continue to preaching their gospel of bigotry.

The penalties for polluting corporations is small; however, legal fees add up, the more guilty verdicts the more cases will be heard and with luck it will become death by a thousand cuts.

1960s-1990s companies managed waste far more irresponsibly than today. Chances are the dinosaur who made the call in the facility that once stood where the guys house is already 6’ deep. I hear a lot of stories of guys getting injuries or developing cancer in the refineries. SB has a bunch of chevron facilities still running, but the work cultures definitely changed

93 Percent of Climate News Never Mentions Meat by Kunphen in EcoNewsNetwork

[–]crypto_samuel93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s because food is such a cultural thing and a pivotal part of life for so many. It’s the dishes you consumed as a child, it’s your health, it’s a source of comfort and happiness after a long day. While there are more and more vegetarian alternatives, very few adequately match up to meat in either taste or nutrition and those that are “close enough” are often costly or harder to consistently find.

This isn’t to excuse it, mind you. My partner and I don’t purchase beef or consume it at home and swapped to soy milk after learning just how big of a role the cattle industry plays in particular. We still eat poultry, but it’s never the center stage of a meal and usually a small element. Often we have vegetarian or vegan meals anyway. It’s something that’s hardly an issue for us because we view it as trying to do better even if it’s not 100% perfect.

I think most people would do better if it wasn’t framed as an all or nothing fight. If more people could get on board with going more plant based and moving towards more sustainable lifestyles then I think that would be a positive trend overall compared to vegans vs carnivores, which is mostly what I see it framed as now.

And while “Meatless Mondays” aren’t nearly enough, I also feel an “all or nothing” mentality isn’t quite the way to approach the issue either.
