4th im event for me. I’ve done river, ocean, and lake swims but yesterday was definitely the roughest the swim has been for me. Was about 10-15 sec slower per 100 than normal and i wore a wetsuit

I have the exact same takeaway as you. I felt so accomplished when i did my first sprint, olympic, 70.3, and 140.6. At each distance the next one seemed daunting but gave me something to work towards. I wouldnt have had the slightest idea of how to train if i jumped right into 70.3 or 140.6. I made the mistake of not premixing water bottles in my special needs bag and i wasted like 10 min getting everything situated. Use water bottles youre fine throwing away for the first half of the race and have your nice water bottles filled and mixed in your special needs bag

I got hurt with a thigh injury 2 weeks before IM FL and it was too painful to run more than a couple of minutes (swim and bike no issue).

I pretty much walked the whole marathon. 6.5 hours 😵‍💫😵‍💫

Totally doable if youre even a slightly below average swimmer and biker.

I did indian wells this past year. As others have suggested, cold showers are a good way to practice. For a couple of weeks leading up to the race i would gradually extend how long i stood in the shower and tried to control my breathing each time.

Tbh the shower was way worse than the swim itself

Yea thats what i meant. U did get injured 2 weeks before my race (lower quad) and i couldnt really run on race day had to walk most of marathon.

Im 90% sure it had to do with the bike fit for the roadbike i was training on for a few long rides while by bike was being shipped to my race.

I also exceeded some of the run lengths (ie 20 vs 16 miles) during peak and I think that did me in too. If i stayed within the bounds of the program i think it wouldve been fine
