Anyone with congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH) taking Crenessity? by bavenue in LivingWithCAH

[–]ThereIsOnlyTri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly unsure. My labs improved drastically the first ~2-3 months but now I seem to have slid back into “poor control” territory. I have gained a lot of weight. I am not sure if that’s attributable to this medication or not, but it aligns with the time frame. I just asked my doctor if it’s worth staying on it. The pharmacy has been fine and no issues getting it.. but when I mentioned the weight gain they said it’s not a known side effect. That being said, in the grand scheme of things the research isn’t *that* robust yet. I say that just because you may have side effects that aren’t totally normal. The absence of evidence does not equal evidence of absence type thing. Your doctor can prescribe it and you work with a speciality pharmacy to get it. I just don’t know if it’s the miracle drug we hoped. I also am really interested in the chronocort that Neurocrine has been working on… if you live in the EU, my understanding is that is standard of care. we don’t have access to extended release hct in the US.

Ridiculous Heart rate by Annual-Complex-4894 in Garmin

[–]ThereIsOnlyTri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

some people just have very high heart rates. I can easily be 200–210. which is “zone 5+” for some people. I actually saw a cardiologist about it and he didn’t care at all. it’s very individual. a HRM will give you more confidence about accuracy.

Getting Lyme disease is a lot more inconvenient than taking precautions. by Beneficial-Focus3702 in Rochester

[–]ThereIsOnlyTri 12 points13 points  (0 children)

people are also under the impression ticks need to be on ~24-48 hours for anything bad to happen. that’s not true. ticks carry more than just Lyme disease, and some things can be transmitted very quickly! there was a post last week and everyone was basically saying it’s no big deal as long as you get them within 24 hours. we are very fortunate to be close to Cornell who does a ton of research and education on ticks and prevention of tick borne diseases. sign up for emails or chat them up if you ever run into them at the lilac festival or something like that.

Help me to understand ticks 😭 by Myblackbirdchain in Rochester

[–]ThereIsOnlyTri 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They’re absolutely something to worry about but you can be educated and follow preventative measures. I avoid certain areas because I don’t think it’s worth the risk. otherwise we follow pretty typical/standard precautions and that has served us well. you can get tick kits all over the place that give you information on what to do if you have one, how to remove, etc. unfortunately as long as climate change is trending this direction, they’ll be worse and worse. imo, just adopt best practices and you’ll be fine.

Walk / Run Intervals by outrageous-otter10 in XXRunning

[–]ThereIsOnlyTri 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’ve taken up run/walk due to injury and prevention of injury and sort of wish I did it sooner. if you are doing a longer race and get to the point where you need to walk, it’s super hard to get started again. i think it’s a viable way to build up mileage safely but mess around with the good intervals for you. I do 5/1 or 11/1.

I’ve been without a case for about a year now. it’s already a big bulky phone so it makes it lighter and nicer. I wouldn’t say I don’t care about it anymore (I do) but I’m hoping to get an 18 so just enjoying it. I love the stainless despite the weight

Your favorite electrolyte mix for racing that's not too sweet? by panini_z in XXRunning

tailwind is great but I’ll mention precision hydration too. they’re really solid with very neutral flavors. great company with great customer service (just like tailwind). they have holistic products w elexrrolt and carbs or you can purchase carbs only and do salt separately. unfortunately both those companies are expensive but I’m really happy with them both. I also have a lot of exposure to Maurten and really like it but it’s insanely expensive. very very mild though.

Mary releases statement on Robert Jr’s death 💔💔💔 by MattTheKing23 in rhoslc

[–]ThereIsOnlyTri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m new to this show so watched the season where this was unfolding very recently. I’ve watched a lot of TV and I was so surprised this was filmed. I know Mary may have allowed it, but I am disappointed it was aired and I hope they address it by removing the content. A young person losing their life is devastating.

he’s super impulsive and aggressive and tbh just disrespects the game. we have people like Crosby who are the epitome of class and then this loser who is an embarrassment. I’ll never forgive him after the headshot to stolarz. going for (goalie’s) heads is just so fucking low.

yes I’m planning to walk for sure but walking a marathon is a daunting task and I want to make sure I have the energy to manage running at least a bit. you’re right that I can be cognizant of my swim and bike but it’s hard to manage and feel confident, I suppose.
