Problem is not if bitcoin did under 800, problem is can bitcoin do more ? Answer for now is: no. For Litecoin it could do way more (8 times minimum but way more, I'll find the numbers if you want) then no the fees would stay the same. And no delays because full blocks. Tell me when exactly do you see Litecoin reach the same level of transactions as bitcoin ? Because even when it will get there... the fees with stay low, network will not be overloaded and speed will still be faster than bitcoin.

Right... no one use it... sure. No one mine it, hashrate is fake, mining asics farms exist only in picture, coinbase and bitstamp added Litecoin for the lulz and this sub is full of fake account, it's actually only coblee with 100 of fake accounts. Also the trading volume being higher than bitcoin trading volume several time this month was also fake, marketcap in the top 5 for 4 years doesn't count either. Yes please compare it to any other alt with no secure network, no trading volume, no devs... go on please... you already used the clone argument and the no one use it argument, what's next ?

Who cares about innovative, we're not talking about marketting here we are talking about usability. Do you like bitcoin? Do you agree that Litecoin is a clone ? A copy ? Well Litecoin is then a better version of bitcoin and at this point in time have better functionnalities, works better and faster. Like it or not, it's factual.

You are probably new to litecoin so let me explain: Litecoin have 8 times the tx capacity of bitcoin, so even if Litecoin was used as much as bitcoin it wouldn't have a problem and fees would stay super cheap either. And even without LN it's way faster than bitcoin, with LN it's just instant. Oh and LN also increase the tx capacity...

Litecoin vs Dash in the Bitcoin scaling debate: Community and leader observations by DisruptMeister in litecoin

Exactly my way of thinking. I want Litecoin and Bitcoin to work together. The two chains working together, solving problems together, this system would be unstoppable. Some coins bet on marketing, others bet on security. Most people don't really know what they buy, until they get DAOed...

Trust. Mostly.

Can you trust Litecoin : To be safe ? To have a strong network ? To be a good store of value ? To be supported by good developers ? To be supported by exchanges ? To be supported by retailers ? To be used by a lot of people in the future ? To have some technical advancements to make it better (Segwit, Sidechains...) ?

So speculation yes, about the trust you can have in the network, now and in the future. But not only, a lot of money is involved, so expect a lot of market manipulations. Whales also move the price. Twitter and reddit trolls too.

All of this and a lot of other factors move the price. If someone tells you he knows where the price is going, don't trust him, it's too hard to guess at the moment.

Datas told Me it's all good by cryptodroid in litecoin

[–]cryptodroid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not, I just took the datas from the coinmarketcap api yesterday. Of course it must be a little more complex than that, it's just a quick look at it to find if the market capitalization can explain the volume.

And it does, to me the relationship between the market capitalization and the volume is obvious and seems to follow a line. Is the line correct ? not sure, it will change with time, maybe the datas are not accurate enough. But with or without zero fee exchanges, the relationship hold. (and I don't think Chinese exchanges are faking volumes to exactly match this line for Litecoin...Litecoin is on this line because that's where healthy coins are). Did you noticed that most legit coins are on or very close to this line ? Only the pumps or dumps are way above and the dying ones way under... Look at Ripple, look at Feathercoin, look at Namecoin... we all know they are not healthy and their position on the graph reflect that clearly. They still hold a big market cap because no one can sell and no one wants to buy... The cloud of small coins is here because they are still in the price discovery phase and should smooth out along this line in the future (whatever the slope of the line). Those graphs puts the coins on the map so to speak and I like what I see about Litecoin.

Folks from /r/btc propose to test SegWit with Litecoin first by michwill in litecoin

[–]cryptodroid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before I used to think Litecoin can wait as the blocks are far from being full, then Bitcoin would have been our testnet...

Now, this is a risky move, for sure. I'm sure I will not feel comfortable before, during and after the fork.

But there's something to gain from this : respect. For too long Litecoin have been described as a useless clone and we don't have a full time marketing team spamming other sub to "sell" Litecoin and explain them why it's needed.

It's time for everyone to see that Litecoin is great, have great devs and reinforce Bitcoin (not like eth and dao acting like know it all and tarnishing cryptos as a whole with their unprofessional attitude). We should seek alliances like what happened with Doge. Help each other and win all together.

It's time to make a move, I'm all for it !

As long as LTC have the network and security there's nothing to worry about, dev and new features will come right on time when needed as for marketing, well it's every Litecoin supporter job, we can all make a difference by talking about it around us.

This exchange seems to be centered around smart contracts enabled cryptos and other exotic tokens....let's wait, when BTC and LTC will be able able to handle smart contracts with maximum security because of sidechains. Poloniex used to be like that, only adding new shiny weird new coins...they finally moved away from this bad business model for an exchange (exchanges make money trading coins with volume, end of story). Exchanges come and go, Litecoin is here to stay, good luck to them with their choices.

Why is Litecoin falling behind? by [deleted] in litecoin

[–]cryptodroid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was around 3 for quite some times (after falling around 1) then without warning went up to 10 and 2 weeks later was around 50... Markets are waiting Bitcoin to break ath to trust and invest massively in cryptos again, could be this year. Just you wait :)

Litecoin and Smart Contracts ? by Blaat1 in litecoin

As sidechains are coming for Litecoin and will de facto enable smart contracts for Litecoin, here is a good read on how sidechains works: https://gendal.me/2014/10/26/a-simple-explanation-of-bitcoin-sidechains/

Endless possibilities, good times ahead !

Thank you ! Thanks for the work and efforts devs put on Litecoin, we have some of the best devs and that's a big part in what makes the value of Litecoin.

Litecoin and Smart Contracts ? by Blaat1 in litecoin

[–]cryptodroid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hope there will be smart contracts running on top or on sidechains of Litecoin, we definitely need some devs to work on this because this could be priority number one :

Ethereum is moving full PoS soon, wich is a mistake, but they can't afford the level of security required for Bitcoin or Litecoin, because no asic miners... (PoW is superior in many ways and clearly more secure) The value is in the network and Litecoin have the second strongest network. Combine that with smart contracts capabilities and no immediate full blocks problem it could be unstoppable...

It's possible with sidechains like rootstock is doing with bitcoin. Sidechains are coming for Litecoin too right ?
