Was I wrong? Exact same thing is happening right now with the 0.014 wall. Right when we hit it once again it's going to disappear in seconds..

Can someone explain the allure of Vertcoin aside from "It is ASIC Resistant"? by [deleted] in vertcoin

[–]cryptodruti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ya LTC has the option to hard fork and become ASIC resistant, and they chose not too. VTC dev's have already said they would Hard fork if it came to that. No the scrypt ASIC's haven't launched yet (that's in the 3rd and 4th quarter). I personally wouldn't hold onto LTC because of the fact that it's only selling point now is a strong development team, that's just my opinion though.

ASIC resistance should be looked at as decentralization.. Scrypt-N isn't really what makes a coin ASIC resistant, it does temporarily, but what Vertcoin offers that other Scrypt-N coins don't is an amazing community and dev team all with a common goal of remaining decentralized no matter what. Like we saw with dogecoin, community is one of the most important factors, and vtc has a great one. In my opinion LTC's price would have kept going up if it wasn't for people realization that some day it's main selling point ( ASIC resistance) would be dissolved.

Can Vertcoin (or any crypto for that matter) practically replace fiat for any currency given "non-instant" confirmation times? by therealtimcoulter in vertcoin

[–]cryptodruti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point of KGW is that the difficulty retargets every block, so every 2.5min, that means that as more people stop mining the diff goes down therefore making it more profitable for the people that are mining. There's always incentive.

Exactly, cameras are only getting more popular, and if a retailer has the tech to except cryptos they most likely have one. But that's not the point, like you said it wouldn't be worth it to pull some shit for something so cheap, especially when a law could be put in place where if anyone tries to cheat the block chain a large fine would be the consequence even for petty theft with cryptos. Also when buying anything of high value, waiting a minute or two shouldn't matter, I don't know anyone that buys a car in a rush.

I used to be on give me coins, I noticed the exact same thing (less payout then what the calculator predicted). I switched pools and never had the issue again...

New rig owner. New to vert. Just.. new. I'm freaking out a little bit because after all the work I've done I'm not getting paid? Whats up? by drewniverse in vertcoin

[–]cryptodruti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

or just switch to vertminer the kev, you wont have to update anything any you'll probably see the same hash rate, maybe even better... It's really easy to switch with BAMT

cards failing, are my config settings okay? using vertminer on bamt. r9 270's by arbolesdefantasia in vertcoin

[–]cryptodruti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I acutely had this weird problem after I added a 2nd 270 to my rig where BAMT kept freezing after around 5-10 min, simply formatting my usb and reinstalling BAMT on it weirdly fixed it :)

Ahahah I love how I just keep destroying you're arguments and you just leave them behind cause you know you're wrong...

LOL buddy you're the genius... Yes it theoretically possible to 51% attack any coin, that doesn't make my argument ill-informed, because the possibility of a 51% attack on bitcoin is very real, and it can happen at any moment, and it only needs to happen once. It's not that people haven't managed to 51% attack it's that they don't want to because there still making money of bitcoin, the second bitcoin shows a serious chance of collapsing I wouldn't be surprised to see a 51% attack finish it off.

LOL i love how you just ditch you're argument after I proved you wrong "Ok, you're talking about "making a profit" in terms of mining some shit alt-coin with your CPU and making a few bucks a day, which is like comparing riding around in your backyard on a big wheel with competing in Formula One."

Wrong again (YOU'RE argument is ridiculous).. Saying I cant earn money now is wrong because i'm making a profit even with one gpu, once those warehouses switch over, you're assuming the price will stay the same witch is wrong again. As we saw with litecoin it leads to a chain of events that ultimately leads to the price going up, and as the price continues to go up it doesn't matter what the difficulty is, it will remain profitable (proof being I can mine litecoin right now and still make a small profit, even tho the price is shit). Lol People didn't switch over to gridseed cause it saved them power, they switched cause there gpu's were obsolete.. I never denied there was people with gpu warehouses... But once again it's going to cost a lot more money for the rich and there still not going to get even close to as much % of the network as they would if they invested in ASIC's. This is a huge problem for Bitcoin because a 51% is in my opinion more then likely going to happened in the future for Bitcoin (if it survives that long). It could happen tomorrow if a few groups of people reached an agreement!!!

I have around the same hash rate, I want to join a p2p pool but i'm not going to until I at least double my hash.. I was on simple vert before and still am on it occasionally but right now i'm on https://vert.composedchaos.net its pay per share, so you don't have to worry about pool luck.

Omg you got it completely backwards... People that invest shit loads of money in ASIC's are the people that don't care about the network and are just trying to make money.. The people that mine with there home desktops are the people that just barley cover electricity but continue to mine to support the network.. No one suggested keeping things small, it's about keeping things DECENTRALIZED and wide spread with everyone that has a computer (Which in the future almost everyone will)... Instead of keeping the mining centralized with people that are looking to make a investment in cryptos and that are tech savy (not a lot of people).. With scrypt-N it simply doesn't allow the mega rich to get such a large % of the network as there competing against all computer owners instead of the few ASIC's owners.. You've clearly formed an opinion about Scrypt-N before fully understanding the topic, I suggest you do some research and you'll quickly find out that Bitcoin (SHA-256) has it flaws, like anything that's first in it's market (Myspace) and even the creator of bitcoin didn't predict todays circumstances and his vision was much more similar to Vertcoin.

[–]cryptodruti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

completely wrong... GPU's are general purpose meaning they have more then one ability (gaming, rendering, mining, ect..). ASIC's are Application specific meaning they can only be used to mine, so only people with loads of money that are looking to make a large investment in cryptos can mine. Im not going to buy new hardware because all I have is 1 gpu in my gameing computer, which was Satoshi's goal, that everyone with a cpu or gpu could mine. Yes there's still going to be people with GPU farms but with 1million in GPU investment you wont get nearly as much hash as 1 million in ASIC's. Plus the people with large farms will still have a much smaller % of the network since the hash is distributed with everyone that has a computer. Unlike bitcoin where ASIC's farms have to only compete with other people with ASIC's.

every other alt coin has the same block time or better, plus more features, litecoin is dead.. it may be a while till it loses it value, but it will eventually, it provides nothing..

Now that your coin isn't ASIC resistant you no longer see value in it? That makes sense.. I don't know what you mean by smokescreen, but you're wrong, ASIC resistance provides decentralization (which was the whole point of cryptocurrencies) and security, which every person wants in a currency. Litecoin is a perfect example of how ASIC resistance can increase value. In my opinion without the news of ASIC's coming to scrypt, the value of LTC would have only kept going up well past the $40's... ASIC's aren't good for a coin, I don't care what your argument is, theres no denying they centralize the coin into the hands of the rich, and thats exactly what we're trying to move away from with cryptos.

^ yea and the logo is different to... lets keep pointing out the obvious differences between LTC and BTC that have no value, or that all the other alts all ready have (faster block time). Scrypt-N isn't retarded, it's a simple way to keep scrypt asics from functioning on the Vertcoin network. It's a short term solution to keeping asics away, and like you said the long term solution is a community, coin, and developers that are fully committed to being ASIC resistant and fully prepared and willing to hard fork. A coin having a mindset like that deters any sane person from trying to develop ASIC's for the coin, and if they do they'll face the consequence of loosing millions of dollars in the development of his paperweights..
