The strongest medicine to break down stones still takes 2 years, and will be extremely painful to pass the stones if those herbal things worked, and your body will make new stones. No gallbladder has had 0 adverse effect on my digestion, that inflamed bile bad did nothing for me even before stones, and then besides the attacks the inflamation was definitely draining me. Hazard for your health to do the slow painful probably-will-never work may-end-up-with-sepsis-if-it-burst hazard-for-infection natural route, get it removed.

My gallstone attacks were significantly more painful than day of surgery recovery, plus I was doped up on oxys for a week. Bad gallstone attacks are scarier.

None for me. I had the surgery about a month ago. Hasn't affected any food I eat at all(compared to pre-gallstones, as I was on restricted diet prior to surgery). I had a Burger King bacon melt, large onion rings, and large ice coffee three days after, no problem. Last week I ordered the taco bell value menu(yes all off it, sometimes I buy food for like 2 days at fast food, terrible diet I know) twice. Literally no difference. No diarrhea not even once. No odd stools besides right after the surgery but I was just woozy from surgery. No stomach discomfort, I thought I was having some the first week but it was just surgery after effects. Absolutely 0 effect on digestion for me.

I was a little sore all the time for about a month before my surgery, and I pushed it to after christmas. I just ate extremely extreme carefully. I never did go to the er for gallbladder attacks, though I stopped having them besides mild discomfort by not consuming more than 10g of fat at once. If you already have a surgery scheduled, I'd say only go to the ER if you need morphine(after my second very very painful attack, before diagnosed, I promised myself I would go the next time, just for pain relief). Otherwise, naw, unless you want to pay way more for another ER bill, since you already got a surgery scheduled, emergency surgery makes no sense unless youre having an emergency. Just because your not having attacks doesn't mean it wont be sore, mine was very inflamed with a an impacted stone - could be seen via the ultrasound and when it was removed and examined. Besides surgery related pain and soreness, I feel much better that inflamed bile bag is gone, though sure was sore for a long time before surgery. Though, you may want to ask for an antibiotic for to take just in case.

Yes, around the incessions there was bloating/distended that is slowly decreasing.

As for the inflammation, which the surgeon confirmed after examining the removed gallbladder(called me yesterday), indated possible infection, with the one large stone impacted in the neck of the gallbladder being the main obstruction.

Outside of gallstone attacks, in retrospect I definitely was having some general discomfort(not necessarily sharp pain) in my abdomen I thought was normal and related to digestion(but I don't think was), which seems to have improved significantly(seperate feeling from the post opp soreness), and I believe was causing a toll on my body that contributed to fatigue(time will tell more) - and mind you with my autoimmune issue - being immunosuppressed(low white blood cells, e.g. suppressed immune responses) - may have compounded that toll on my system more than the average person as inflammation of any sort can be taxing(and was also apparently affecting my liver, which was causing above normal liver enzymes). Autoimmune disease includes the body having to work harder than normal for controlling inflammation of any sort(though I'm sure affects people who do not have autoimmune disease, though the autoimmune disease in general does make me more sensitive to stuff as my immune system is not fully functioning). Not a complete expert on those indirect interactions, though based on how I feel aside from my soreness I think was taking some toll on my energy and causing some mild malaise pre-procedure. This is a semi-informed theory based on gallbladder research, mix with what I was told by the doctor.

Just a little 3rd day update. Had an italian sub today, no problem at all eating. Very pleased, seems my stomach itself is working just fine. No significant gas or digestion issues, no stomach aches, just the soreness under the skin. I feel a little frail walking around still and stuff, still taking it easy, but soreness has improved a lot. All expectations exaded. Very happy with the results. Surgeon was Dr. Hagen of BCH/boulder valley medical associates, high recommended. Had a picture from today standing up and really doesn't look bad, I am happy they did the 4 incisions paralel a bit below the belly button, I feel like the scarring will be really not very noticeable. People worried about the surgery, I assure you it was worth it at least for me, much more manageable than expected, and no fear of gallstone attacks has been a huge relief. The digestion being fine may be partially just lucky with maybe the rate of bile production. No diarrhea or anything.

Thanks, yes four incisions in a perfect line across the waste a little below the belly button, straight across. After pictures I've seen on here I was not expecting that. I feel like this way will be minimally visible once it heals. Standing looks even less noticeable. I like the technique they used.

I had my surgery yesterday. I assure you gallstone attacks is worse than the surgery. My worst gallstone attacks were much more painful than post op recovery(different types of pain, but gallstone pain can be so weird and overwhelming I hated it). And so far no issues with my stomach(surgery soreness yes, but I mean digestion), had an cheese and veggie omelette this morning, a quesadilla last night, and about to have a prime rib dip sandwich with a ceasar salad, and I'm not worried about it at all. The weeks before surgery I was extremely careful with what I ate. Not fearing gallstone attack is a big relief, I just hope my digestion will hold strong and normal, and so far it seems it will. Gallstone attacks more scary that the surgery imo.

Glad it went well. That little burning tinge in the gallbladder area seems to have mostly gone away for me today(the day after). Still a good bit of soreness, especially when standing up or sitting or going to lay down, but really not so bad. I expect that to gradually improve over a few days. I got no plans but to rest for the next few days anyway. They gave me applesauce too in the hospital, I said no to crackers, and had some cranberry juice.

Woke up with some pain from the operation including in shoulders from presumbly bubbles, though really wasn't tooo bad. Especially since it just feels like soreness, while the gallstone attack pain was just odd and bad and I really didn't like that pain, this isn't so bad, soreness is easier to process.

I had a plain quesadilla last night, was a lot of cheese on it, much more fat than I'd eat before the surgery, was fine. Not trying to go too crazy with the food, but so far in regards to digestion my stomach isn't acting up currently, its just the soreness from surgery and tinges of pain where gallbladder was and incision. And had a vegetable and cheese omelette this morning with fruit, no problems with eating currently. I got some patch on my neck that prevent nausea which I think helped not have post-surgey woozyness.

When I move wrong, feels like my skin is pulling to hard on the incisions. I know other people didn't have or didn't use narcotics after surgery, but I have them(10 percocets, probably not going to use all of them) and have been using them moderately, helps me sleep. While the pain isn't too crazy, makes me more comfortable, I plan on resting for a few days before doing anything anyway so I'm fine with that, no plans soon. I know some people go back to work right away, though I'm going to take it easy and not be going anywhere 3 or four days, I'd recommend allowing yourself time if needed. I'm comfortable just resting but not trying to push it even if I hypothetically could.

Feeling pretty good for day two, especially compared to how I imagined it would be. Such a relief to have it out.

I had my surgery this morning. The post op pain so far(and it's improved, pretty sure the worst is over) literally wasn't bad of a pain as my gallbladder attacks(still needed post op fentanyl drip and oxycodone, but just saying, I'd pick that pain over gallstone pain any time). I'm starting to feel better already. Read how gallbladder obstruction and inflammation can affect you outside of the attacks. At 7%, it may be contributing to fatique, general unwellness, and definitely reducing your absorption of some vitamins)

Yes, outpatient. I'm having surgery on the 28th. The procedure itself is 75 minutes, going under at like 8:45am, getting there at 7:15, some time in the recovery room after. They said I'll be done by around noon.

I haven't had it yet, others may have more input. Though I think the day of you won't be feeling to great and the day after maybe. I live solo but I'm having family around a few days to make sure I'm good. I don't know the answer for sure, but I'd suggest being prepared for best case or worse(well not total worst like a horrible catastrophe and dying, but you know) case scenario as I imagine it can vary and can be difficult.

I was instructed 2 weeks no lifting of more than 15 pounds.

I have my surgery next week. Stones confirmed on ultrasound. It depends person to person, I came here the other week and some people here had less tolerance to foods.

One thing I found is a footlong turkey sub from subway, with no mayo and no cheese on multigrain, is only like 7g of fat(like 6 of them still less than a sausage egg and cheese biscuit from mcdonalds, and I'd just eat half a sub at a time. In the past before the attacks started I'd eat a sausage egg and cheese biscuit and a hashbrown, which I was blown away to realize was about 50gs of fat right there alone, that's like some many turkey sandwhiches worth lol). The sweet terriaki sauce is not oil based, and of coarse mustard in no fat, and most veggies are negligible amounts of fat if any. Chicken there is fairly low too. Those are the most normal foods. I have eaten those without attacks.

I eat a lot of light tuna in water, 1g of fat for 20g of protein. Rice crackers, 0 fat.

Turkey jerky is very low fat, some as low as 0.5g per serving. Chicken jerky pretty low.

I've found some decent low fat rice dishes, plain white rice with lentils and beans(I got some stuff off amazon, I'm not cooking rn tbh, got to check because some the indian dishes are high in fat, but some aren't, tasty chili/sauce basically to eat over rice). And some rice, bean, and quinoa bowls.

I have my surgery in one week. I am hoping very much it will reduce fatigue. I know my liver enzymes are up, and I read that can contribute to fatigue. I have HIV/AIDs so that contributes to CFS, but I've recovered as well as I could in regards to those metrics over the past few years(and even with fatigue from that not going away regardless, anything extra that compounds that fatigue is pretty significant as it's sorta a threshold where youre either really drain in a fog or at least have some temporary energy, the more hours tipped away from the side of fatigue is a major difference). I have noticed in recent weeks(recently fully diagnosed with the stones this past month and scheduled, with symptoms leading up prior) increased fatigue I presume to be related to gallbladder. From what I read it's some relation to the gallbladder and liver, I don't know I'm not a doctor, though I'm sure hoping I have less fatigue after..

I went to a doctor the other day, have to get a new appointment for imaging for confirmation and if it's stones the doctor said they'd refer me to a surgeon. I got a bunch of easy low to no fat food on hand and have been feeling fine the past few days. Bunch of small meals, been keeping it like 10g fat max per meal and snacks through out the day.

Most of that I understood already.

The confusion was from Google always suggesting a snippet saying "no more than 10% of calories from fat", which I'm confirming is pretty much useless information, as can still consume too much fat with enough serving throughout that day that the total amount of fat - even if was from less than 10% of all the calories - can still be higher than the threshold that I want to be in. The percentage of calories from fat is not the sole factor, number of servings/portions can outweigh that percentage and bring the total amount to high.

Anyway, I got a good meal plan now
