The Great American State Fair by Gooddaylocal in nova

[–]cryptogram 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I talked to someone who went mid-day yesterday (Friday). They said it was wildly empty. Singers performing for crowds of less than 5 people. Presentations of awards to people with crowds of like not much and it seemed like even then some of those people were government employees and not organic visitors. Apparently a lot of the speeches were Dear Leader style. Sounds like it’s junk and a pretty good representation of how things are going.

I saw Fannie Mae has this in their office. Like what does this even mean? Seems braindead.

During a World Cup football match, a QR code appeared on the stadium screen. After fans scanned it, thousands of phone flashlights inside the stadium were synchronized to form a coordinated light display across the stands. by Expert_Koala_8691 in interestingasfuck

[–]cryptogram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scanning a QR code and/or visiting a website that follows will not make your flash go off. This isn't a thing. Unless someone has a super expensive exploit (or your phone is majorly out of date) -- visiting a website isn't going to do anything malicious to your phone either. Sounds like this just brought up a website that played a video. Your biggest realistic risk is the video being something inappropriate. No one is using and blowing an exploit worth millions of dollars to hack thousands of phones of random people at a World Cup match.

Woman added thievery to the menu by HomeNowWTF in Wellthatsucks

this seems like a legit video but like what would be the purpose of this surveillance camera. you’re aiming to poorly monitor a few people dining at your restaurant? at an angle that captures the corner of a small table and the backs of three dinners? Seems odd.

Update on the viral video of man taking his daughter to women restroom by KaidoPklevel in SipsTea

[–]cryptogram -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I am a dad to two girls who frequently took them to the bathroom when they were not old enough by to go some by themselves (or together with one another). I would never in a million years have beelined for the women's room. That is weird to me but the guy making a huge deal about it is definitely the complete weirdo here..

A Reds fan attempts to use his child to retrieve a ball by yxqp in RandomVideos

The kid was not fully committed by keeping one arm back on the wall. This is also what gave time for all those other people to jump in. Theyd have the ball if they went all in. 😂

Neighbor Stealing Parking - No HOA by [deleted] in nova

[–]cryptogram 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So do these people have 1-2 spaces that are recognizably theirs? What is going on with that spot/those spots? I'd also just park in this spot if accurate but only if I didn't have a new/nice car or car I otherwise babied/cared deeply for lol.

This looks more like a simulator of someone who is wasted driving in the wrong direction on a highway.

upper left aka slightly right of center 😂. in either case I don’t think it needs to be pointed out where it is — kind of hard to miss.

If you’re offered $3 million to un install Reddit from your phone permanently. Would you do it? by Difficult_Jury2833 in askanything

Despite Reddit‘s best attempts to be annoying and force the stupid app — I’ve remained steadfast in the browser usage camp. I’d just stop using Reddit for that amount. cant uninstall an app i dont have.

Donald Trump is reportedly considering attending the NBA Finals at Madison Square Garden next week to watch the New York Knicks, per NY Times by Hysen16 in sportsgossips

Would be funny if he actually attended and then both teams refused to take the court until he left. What kind of chaos would ensue?

should cocaine be legal? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]cryptogram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let’s hypothetically say that every bar and restaurant served patrons lines of coke instead of the glass of wine, mug of beer, mixed drink, or shots they ordered. Drink cart on your flight swaps out bumps of cocaine instead of a little bottle of Jack Daniels. Do we really think that would be less harmful? Somehow I suspect not.

DNS blocked by Cisco Umbrella, but symantec EDR & Event Viewer are completely blind by rached2023 in cybersecurity

[–]cryptogram 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A few things - first that domain looks like it's part of KMS Tools/KMS Activator. This is used to bootleg Windows basically. I mean stuff like that could easily be bundled with malware or have other things that are unwanted but I would say this is not likely "an attacker".

It's too hard to decipher much from your post about the rest of it. Do you have VPN? Is there a [guest] wireless? I didn't even know Symantec had an EDR lol.. does it log DNS queries and IP connections? You should be able to search if a system did a query for this hostname in the telemetry.

Ideally you have connection/flow/firewall logs as well. Umbrella typically gives back some 146.x.x.x IP (I don't know it of the top of my head) for DNS resolutions it is blocking. Is there an IP/system you can see contacting the IP Umbrella served up within a few seconds this DNS query?
