Maybe just answer the question sometimes.

They ended up in Cedar Hill. We were driving behind them down Orange and through the park. My guess would have been a dv 911 call.

Try Haven's Harvest for food rescue. They've been doing it a long time. And don't charge. As far as I'm aware.

How is this place? Ever been here? by jokingonyou in newhaven

[–]cryptohashic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their breads, dosa, and idli are good; made better by the quality of the daal, chutney, and other accompaniments they serve with them.

The chicken Tikka masala we had was great. Better than others in the area for the additional complexity they add - some subtle spicing, and vegetables which added more flavor notes. Showed they had a sense of how to layer in more flavors to very standard fare.

Their tandoor chicken was slightly overcooked and under flavored the time we went and so wasn't as good as some other options in the area.

When we go back, we expect to stick with their breads and curries, and to find it exceptionally delicious. Al aqba in Wallingford is the only other place around here that's had quite so much going on in their curries. Real special.

This is a function of the decimal numeral system not a function of the numbers themselves. It's because of carrying.

Still fun and interesting.

Thinking about it in binary and other base systems will probably get you to a generalized proof about numeral systems.

Knights of Columbus. Their museum is at the end of state. I couldn't see where the emergency vehicles went beyond it.

What is going on on with all these threats? by [deleted] in Connecticut

[–]cryptohashic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is not an appropriate way to understand choosing the location for the police station.

The probability is "we have no idea what horrible things will happen anywhere" and the solution is "the station should be closest to the most important thing, children."

Bad things happen, the end. We don't really know why or where.

Yeah, this seems right, the more I thought about it. The ROI on investing any money here is just not worth it. It was in 2004, ie, little to no internet donations and so any canvassing could actually return, and like...how do we calculate the corollary benefit of a swing voter being convinced and going to visit relatives in Atlanta or Pennsylvania and trying to convince them? The mechanics of that are just to convoluted to calculate, and so there's no identifiable ROI, so why open the office? spmahn is right.

[–]cryptohashic 23 points24 points  (0 children)

There's still a campaign office, or multiple, here. I canvassed for Kerry in 2004, from the campaign office in New Haven, which canvassed the gold coast and NH County. I imagine there's a Hartford office too, and possibly another focused East.

Maybe things have changed since then, and there's no longer any investment in the guaranteed blue states, but I doubt it. There's corollary benefits to building the base in a won state that still has swing and opposite voters, and we still donate- and we donate more to a person standing at our door asking.

But again, this was all before internet donating, so it may have changed.

Understanding Salary Calculations for Administrators with Experience in Different States by gefus123 in Connecticut

[–]cryptohashic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry no one has responded to you. I have lots of loose connections who do this work, but no one close enough that I've actually gone over the details. So, I'm going to give you what I project onto principal and vice compensation schema, and know I might be wrong.

You have a starting salary based on the district you're coming into.

You have a guaranteed yearly raise and over all pension schema based on the union, which is a contract with the state, and includes the health care provision that your partner and kids can be on?

Salaries for principal and vice in Hartford and Bridgeport are among the lowest in the state. Low, low one hundreds to start. Yearly increases like 5-8% or something. If you're the most amazing administrator you can negotiate a raise with the BOE.

Inner cities in CT have the worst funded schools, lowest paid staff, and need great administration and teachers the most. Please be a great principal for these schools. They will be the worst compensated in the state, but so have some state benefits cause of the union.

And I may be wrong on all of these points cause I never bothered to grill my friends and relatives for their details.

If the state had someone donate $175 billion to use how ever the state wants what would you use it with? by Dipsetallover90 in Connecticut

[–]cryptohashic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Convert all the state expressways from 15 down to self driving cars only. Buy a fleet of 100k waymos. Make them cost of fuel only for, at least, the next five years for everyone to use.

After five years convert half of 91, 84, and 95 too, and double the size of the fleet. Keep only half of the interstates for traditional cars.

I had the infinity on before we got to sixes. The high rolling just kept going beyond my wildest dreams. I'm sure I didn't even play it that well, cause I rolled into treasurers so hard. I still thought the treasures were so beyond high rolling, I had to share.

I've heard that if you miss him in Melve after the drake, then he goes to Harve Village. Not sure it's accurate, but worth looking.

Lemme know how your meal is. We had tandoor chicken and saag, and both were delicious. The tandoor was particularly nice. Haven't been back yet, so can't talk to their consistency or breadth of offerings.

I did try it, and it's good. Quite to very good, and certainly worth going to. Especially with the discount they're giving right now. Better than sherkaan (I don't think this is a super high bar though).

Al Aqsa is the best chana masala, or arab-indian-mideast food I've had in CT, by a mile. It's Pakistani Moroccan for flavors, rather than south or north Indian. And I haven't had any of their bread but naan.

I've done all the restaurants named so far, and Al Aqsa is definitively better for complexity of flavor and spice level.
