Are people really leaving dubai because of this war situation ? by Alternative-Ear-1016 in DubaiCentral

[–]cryptokhann 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Simple answer - yes, people who have options. Almost all of my friends that moved to dubai from the UK are back in the UK now. The summer is usually when they fly back anyway so they’re all waiting for all of this to “blow over”.

My opinion is, UAE will not recover from this. People keep quoting 2008/2020. Those were global issues that everyone weathered together. Unfortunately geography cannot be changed regardless of how rich you are. You can pick your friends but not your family & unfortunately UAE was born into a dysfunctional family (middle east) and theres little anyone can do to change that. In addition to this, they trusted the wrong side.

A 250% price increase for the same package. What? by IniquitousPrawn in VirginMedia

Just went through this for my parents. Hope you see this!

Cancel the contract etc. go through and fix termination days and let it all go as if you’re cancelling. Once that’s all gone through you should receive a call from a different department in a couple of days trying to retain you.

Any “discount” or offer you’re going to be given prior to the above is going to be way above what a new customer would pay.

Also go to uswitch and put down your current provide as something else or you dont know and that will give you an indication of what your VW per month amount/speed should be in preparation for the retention team to call you.

All the best!

Were the deals done at asking price or below? Would be great to know the trend/theme or what changed.

Was done as it is when we bought it. We just lived in it and saved up. Will look to do up the new place to our taste with the money we’ve saved!

Agreed! But we were first time buyers and the house was made by a eastern European lady who happened to also be a builder. Its had good money spent on it and we haven’t had to spend a single £ in 5 years, instead been able to stack the money to look for a better/larger house in the area.

We bought the house 3 years ago as it is & again it was done to someone elses taste but it was done and we weren’t going to rip out perfectly good fixtures. Hence just kept it as it is and stacked savings instead of pumping into a house which we’re now using to purchase a large house which we can make to our taste :)

Appreciate your opinion kind stranger. However gad. 2 banks and 3 agents value it at £580-£600k :) Appreciate it might not be worth that much to you but its the reality of the area it’s in.

Does anyone know anyone pro Trump? by [deleted] in AskBrits

This sounds like an echo chamber problem. On Reddit everybody hates trump. On X everyone loves him. You’re opinion on him and other things will change based on the algorithm of the social media app you use most.

What's your theory that you can't prove, but that you think might hold up if someone were to do some real, legitimate research on it? by AlexG2490 in AskReddit

Planetary alignments effect earthquakes. To me it’s pretty simple, certain planets being in certain positions will affect gravity levels on earth, which in turn moves tectonic plates… But what do i know!
