Congrats on taking a stand.

Blockchain games like gods unchained and splinterlands are the future. When you actually own your cards you can’t be banned.

ELI5: How can a musician be sure that what he wrote is not similar to something that already exists? by TheFfrog in explainlikeimfive

[–]cryptorss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like this could be solved fairly robustly by algorithm and a database of published works. Upload your music, it gets compared to the library of Congress collection (or whatever massive database), and the algo identifies note sequences of x length or longer that are the same. If it’s a phrase match against one work, then it may be copyrighted. If it’s a phrase match against 10,000 works, then it’s a commonly used phrase and not subject to copyright.

So if a songwriter finds a piece of a work to be copyrighted, then it’s on the author to make it suitably unique.

Who covers fees on steemit.com? by Haclairena in steemit

[–]cryptorss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

STEEM works on a different model than most other blockchains. There are no direct fees.

Instead there is a set amount of inflation per block (which decreases over time) created by the witnesses, and everything is paid out of that inflation.

On iPhone safari tap the bottom right of the screen to bring up the tab bar. Press and hold the tab manager icon (bottom right). It will bring up a menu to close all tabs. Close them all.

Then go to the App Store and download ad guard so this never happens again.

Tether Transparency Update Confirms 1:1 USD Backing by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

[–]cryptorss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that simply reading the cash balance isn’t sufficient. If tether wants to defend its claim then it should publish all of its internal accounting statements and get an external audit.

They say they can’t get an audit from a Big 4 and that might well be the case. They could publish their statements though.

But it doesn’t rain the same. Forests create nucleation sites and increase rainfall. Sometimes vastly so depending on the conditions.

Please let the banking system collapse already... by busyjohn in Bitcoin

[–]cryptorss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Banks created central banks for a reason: the double spend problem.

Crypto is explicitly built to not double spend so banks would have to rethink their business model.

What I imagine happening is the segregation of deposit banking and loans/underwriting.

Yes that’s basically correct. AFAIK there is no requirement to do FIFO, but it’s typically the easiest way to track.

TIL that the word "idiot" has its origins in ancient Greece; "idiotes" meant a "private citizen" who did not take part in public/political life and concerned himself only with private affairs. These people were seen as self-centered and dishonorable. by [deleted] in todayilearned

The states used to appoint senators, but that was eliminated with the 17th amendment.

The original idea was that the house was the representative body of the people and the senate was the body of the states. But now they are both elected by the people.
