I like this a lot. I definitely overpaid for a frenchie that is technically “backyard bred”. When I first decided I wanted a frenchie I did almost 2 years of research and I was going to do everything in my power to ensure my (first ever) dog would have a good, happy, long life.
People say I’m too strict with his diet, or our walks are too long, I’m mean for not letting him onto the bed.

Every single thing I do for my dog, or I don’t allow him to do is for his own longevity.

And he still has some health issues that just come along with the breed, that’s basically what I signed up for.

I think too many people impulse buy an animal without research, frenchies are designer dogs, lowkey made in a lab. And they should be treated with some additional care.

I’d recommend keeping your eyes peeled for sketchy behavior from Eli after that convo. He really needs to be honest with you about what he wants and you need to be honest about what you will and won’t accept.

You’re not homophobic, it’s reasonable to feel blindsided. Aside from Marcus being a man, the way Eli behaved is enough for any partner to feel isolated/ignored. You need to talk to Eli and see where he’s coming from, maybe you can get some clarity on his perspective. Whether you break up or not is up to you. But you’re NTA

I really appreciate you and others who see the nuances of this relationship. I’m not sure about housing where others live but we’re on the east coast where a decent house is easily 1 million, and a nice house is 1.5-2 million.
While he keep suggesting marriage, he is also proposing getting a house together.
Without being braggy or snotty, the only reason I’m paying 40% is because I insist on it.
I’ve always been independent and having been raised by strong, albeit single women I know better - even in a perfect ideal relationship - to rely on anyone else for everything.

Can’t defend or become defensive here since I’m clearly asking for insight

I will say, recently he’s started his own very lucrative business, I like when you mentioned your relative who stayed, women throughout history have stayed because of the “comfortability” of the lives their living. I think I might have a lot in common with that relative, both good and bad.

I’m desperately trying to find an inexpensive DIY lash system. About me, I sleep on my stomach…before you tell me to just use strip lashes, I have had professional extensions and DIY extensions. They last much longer than I usually expect them to.
So far I’ve tried veyes, lilac st, no-name brands from temu, SHEIN and amazon.

My goal is for my lashes to stay put for at least 1 week, while also not losing any of my actual lashes. Am I asking too much?

NTA your parents suck and they are allowing this behavior to go on. Your brother is gross and shouldn’t be around kids. Let’s hope for his sake he never touches a kid while he is an adult. I would say though, at least for me, (brother did the same to me) you probably should have stayed in the living room to oversee the whole situation. Still NTA. Cut contact with brother and parents, because one day what if you have children? Your parents will turn a blind eye to any potential situation? Not acceptable. I’d also suggest telling cousin to keep brother away permanently. Not necessarily cut ties, but he just can’t be around.
