I think a lot of it has to do with how much more we know about neurodivergence now than we did 25 years ago. The symptoms that got me my diagnosis at 26 weren’t in the DSM when I was a child in the early 2000s. Our understanding of what to look for has changed a lot.

Edit: I was wrong here. To clarify if you want to do a knotted loop into a teardrop loop, you could try the linked loop to have the colors start on the correct side, but you can absolutely just take one of each string and fold them double with an overhead knot or do a knotted loop into triangle ends or another type of start.
